Made-to-measure beech panel – sized to the nearest mm

WoodUp’s made-to-measure beech panel is made from steamed, edge-glued beech with full-length staves and is FSC / PEFC certified. It is manufactured, cut and machined to order to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm long and 10 to 120 cm wide, to the nearest millimetre. Steaming stabilises the beech’s natural colour, changing it from pinkish white to an even caramel brown, and reduces internal stresses, giving it better dimensional stability than unsteamed beech. The panel is supplied in the finish selected in the configurator: sanded and unfinished, oiled or varnished. If you choose the sanded, unfinished option, a protective finish is recommended before use.

Delivery times: your panel is dispatched within 5 to 10 working days of ordering, including manufacturing time. Delivery generally takes between 1 week and 15 days from ordering.

Use and finishing advice

If you chose the sanded, unfinished option, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, polyurethane floor varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt look, hard oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood; reapply it every 1 to 2 years, depending on use. Apply the finish to every face before installation, including those that will be inaccessible once fitted.

Before installation, store the panel flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours so it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity.

WoodUp advice

Before ordering: beech is a hard, dense wood, so pilot holes must be drilled before inserting screws to prevent splitting. The 50 mm thickness is suitable for tabletops and worktops with wide spans (up to 120 cm without intermediate support). Allow 1 to 2 mm of clearance if the panel needs to fit into a frame. All faces must be finished before installation, including those that will be inaccessible once fitted.
