Made-to-measure ash panel – sized to the nearest millimetre
WoodUp’s made-to-measure ash panel is made from premium-grade edge-glued ash (non-finger-jointed staves) and is FSC / PEFC certified. It is cut and machined to order to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm long and 10 to 120 cm wide, to the nearest millimetre. Ash is a hard, resilient wood known for its impact resistance and attractive grain, which ranges from straight to slightly wavy. Its natural creamy-white colour is very pale. Premium grade: the A face is free from defects, with sound knots up to 6–7 mm permitted; sound knots up to 35 mm are permitted on the reverse face. The panel is supplied with the finish selected in the configurator: unfinished and sanded, oiled or varnished. A protective finish is recommended before use if you choose the unfinished, sanded option.

Use and finishing advice
If you choose the unfinished, sanded option, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, polyurethane varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt look, hard oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood – reapply every 1 to 2 years, depending on use. Apply the finish to every face before installation, including those that will be inaccessible afterwards.
Before working with the panel, store it flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours to let it acclimatise to the ambient humidity.
WoodUp tip
Good to know before ordering: ash is a hardwood – pre-drilling is essential before fixing with screws. Its very pale colour changes slightly over time when exposed to light, developing a golden-honey patina. To preserve its original appearance, apply a varnish with a UV filter. For indoor use only.

Can I order this panel with rounded edges or a special shape?
Yes. Several machining options are available in the configurator: chamfered, rounded and quarter-round edges, rounded corners, and special oval, circular or octagonal shapes. For more complex options (drilling, CNC cutting, laser engraving), contact WoodUp customer service before completing your order.
Can this panel be used outdoors?
No. This panel is for indoor use only. For outdoor use or damp environments, choose a suitably treated panel or a naturally resistant wood species.
What finish should I apply to this panel?
The panel is supplied sanded and ready to finish. For a surface subject to wear, apply polyurethane varnish in 2 to 3 coats. For a natural look, use hard oil and reapply every 1 to 2 years. For a custom colour, use wood stain or paint. In all cases, finish every face before installation.
What is the delivery time?
The panel is made to order and dispatched within 5 to 10 working days. You can track its progress in your WoodUp customer account.
Which finish will preserve ash’s natural pale colour?
To preserve ash’s creamy-white colour, apply a clear varnish or oil with UV protection – natural light gradually yellows unprotected ash. Avoid coloured stains unless you want to change its colour. Fine sanding (180–220 grit) before finishing gives a perfectly smooth surface.
Is the ash panel suitable for making furniture?
Yes. Edge-glued ash is particularly well suited to cabinetmaking and furniture production: its rigidity, impact resistance and attractive grain make it a versatile wood. It is compatible with most commercially available wood glues, varnishes and oils.
How do I order drilling or laser engraving options?
These options are available on request and are not listed in the online configurator. Contact WoodUp customer service with your plans and specifications before placing your order.
