Made-to-measure spruce panel – sized to the nearest mm
The WoodUp made-to-measure spruce panel is made from glued spruce strips (non-finger-jointed) and is FSC / PEFC certified. It is cut and machined to order to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm long and 10 to 120 cm wide, to the nearest millimetre. Commonly referred to as “fir” in everyday French, spruce is a lightweight, easy-to-work softwood with a white to slightly yellowish colour and a fine, even grain. More affordable than hardwoods, it is suitable for everyday interior projects such as shelves, cladding and simple furniture. Its relatively soft surface is prone to impact marks, so a protective finish is recommended. The panel is delivered with the finish selected in the configurator: unfinished and sanded, oiled or varnished. If you choose the unfinished, sanded option, a protective finish is recommended before use.
Configure the dimensions, thickness, shape (straight, oval, circle, octagon), edge machining (chamfered, rounded, quarter-round) and rounded corners directly on this page. For options available on request (drilling, laser printing, CNC cutting), contact WoodUp customer service before completing your order.

Use and finishing advice
If you choose the unfinished, sanded option, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, a polyurethane floor varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt look, hard oil penetrates the grain and nourishes the wood – reapply every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Apply the finish to every face before installation, including those that will be inaccessible afterwards.
Before working with the panel, store it flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours so it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity.
WoodUp tip
Before ordering: spruce is softer than beech or oak, so impact marks may appear on unfinished surfaces. Its pale colour takes paint and coloured wood stains well. For shelves carrying heavy loads, choose the 40 mm thickness for spans over 60 cm.
Frequently asked questions
Can I order this panel with rounded edges or a special shape?
Yes. Several machining options are available in the configurator: chamfered, rounded and quarter-round edges, rounded corners, and special oval, circular or octagonal shapes. For more complex options (drilling, CNC cutting, laser printing), contact WoodUp customer service before completing your order.
Can this panel be used outdoors?
No. This panel is for indoor use only. For outdoor use or damp environments, choose a suitably treated panel or a naturally resistant wood species.
What finish should I apply to this panel?
The panel is delivered sanded and ready to finish. For a surface subject to wear: polyurethane floor varnish, applied in 2 to 3 coats. For a natural look: hard oil, reapplied every 1 to 2 years. For a custom colour: wood stain or paint. In all cases, finish every face before installation.
What is the delivery time?
The panel is made to order and dispatched within 5 to 10 working days. You can track its progress in your WoodUp customer account.
Can spruce be painted or stained?
Yes. Spruce takes paint and coloured wood stains well thanks to its pale surface and even grain. Sand with 180-grit abrasive before application. If painting, a primer suitable for softwood is recommended to prevent resin from bleeding through.
How much weight can a spruce shelf support?
At a thickness of 21 mm, the recommended maximum unsupported span is 50 cm. At 27 mm, it is up to 70 cm. At 40 mm, it is up to 90–100 cm, depending on the load. For heavily loaded bookshelves, choose the next thickness up or reduce the span between supports.
How do I order drilling or laser printing options?
These options are available on request and are not listed in the online configurator. Contact WoodUp customer service with your drawings and specifications before ordering.
