Custom walnut panel — made to measure to the nearest millimetre
The WoodUp custom walnut panel is made from American walnut glulam (non-finger-jointed boards), FSC / PEFC certified. It is cut and machined to order according to your exact specifications: 10 to 250 cm in length, 10 to 120 cm in width, to the nearest millimetre. American walnut (Juglans nigra) is one of the most sought-after species in premium cabinet-making. Its deep chocolate-brown hue with purple undertones, sinuous grain and naturally silky surface make it an exceptional wood. The maximum available length is limited to 250 cm due to the availability of the species. The panel is delivered in the finish chosen in the configurator: raw sanded, oiled or varnished. A protective finish is recommended before use if you opt for the raw sanded option.
Configure the dimensions, thickness, shape (straight, oval, circle, octagon), edge machining (chamfer, rounded, quarter-round) and rounded corners directly on this page. For options available on request (drilling, laser engraving, CNC cutting), contact WoodUp customer service before finalising your order.

Usage and finishing advice
If you have opted for the raw sanded finish, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, a polyurethane varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt look, a hard oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood — to be renewed every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Apply the finish to all faces before fitting, including those that will be inaccessible once in place.
Before any installation, store the panel flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours so that it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity.
WoodUp tip
Important information before ordering: American walnut is a species with variable availability — order in advance if your project is urgent. Its maximum length is limited to 250 cm. The 20 mm thickness is suitable for cladding and light shelving; 40 mm is recommended for worktops and table tops. Its colour will gradually shift towards a warmer brown with light exposure — a natural process for walnut.
Frequently asked questions
Can this panel be ordered with rounded edges or a special shape?
Yes. Several machining options are available in the configurator: chamfer, rounded and quarter-round for edges, rounded corners, and special shapes: oval, circle or octagon. For complex options (drilling, CNC cutting, laser engraving), contact WoodUp customer service before finalising your order.
Can this panel be used outdoors?
No. This panel is intended for indoor use only. For outdoor use or damp environments, choose a panel with suitable treatment or a naturally durable wood species.
What finish should be applied to this panel?
The panel is delivered sanded, ready to finish. For a surface subject to wear: polyurethane varnish in 2 to 3 coats. For a natural look: hard oil to be renewed every 1 to 2 years. For a personalised tint: wood stain or wood paint. In all cases, finish all faces before fitting.
What is the delivery lead time?
The panel is made to order and dispatched within 5 to 10 working days. You can track progress from your WoodUp customer account.
What is the difference between American walnut and European walnut?
American walnut (Juglans nigra) has a deep chocolate-brown hue with characteristic purple undertones. European walnut (Juglans regia) is lighter, ranging from beige to brown with grey veining. WoodUp exclusively offers American walnut, valued for its highly distinctive visual character.
Is walnut suitable for a table top?
Yes — this is one of the most common uses of walnut in cabinet-making. At 40 mm thick, the custom walnut panel offers the rigidity and aesthetic appeal required for a table top. Opt for a hard oil or a matt varnish to preserve the natural sheen without visually weighing it down.
How do I order drilling or laser engraving options?
These options are carried out on request — they are not available in the online configurator. Contact WoodUp customer service with your plans and specifications before placing your order.
