The WoodUp bespoke larch triply panel is made from larch triply (3 cold-bonded plies, central ply crossed at 90°), PEFC certified. It is cut and machined to order according to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm in length, 10 to 120 cm in width, to the nearest millimetre. The larch triply (3-ply) panel combines the cross-ply structure of triply with the natural durability of larch, one of the few European species usable outdoors without heavy chemical treatment (natural class 3). The central ply crossed at 90° provides greater mechanical strength than a solid panel of the same thickness. The panel is delivered in the finish chosen in the configurator: raw sanded, oiled or varnished. A protective finish is recommended before use if you opt for raw sanded.

Usage and finishing advice

If you have opted for raw sanded, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, a polyurethane varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt appearance, a hard oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood — to be renewed every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Apply the finish to all faces before installation, including those that will be inaccessible once in place.

Before any installation, store the panel flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours to allow it to acclimatise to the ambient humidity.

WoodUp tip

Good to know before ordering: larch is naturally moisture-resistant (class 3), making it the most suitable triply species for sheltered outdoor use. A finish is still recommended to limit the natural greying of wood exposed to light. Available in AB or B quality depending on the desired appearance. Allow 10 days to dry after applying the finish before putting into service.

What is the difference between larch triply and spruce triply for outdoor use?

Larch (natural class 3) is significantly more suited to sheltered outdoor use than spruce, which requires more thorough treatment to resist moisture. For an outdoor project (cladding, covered terrace furniture), choose larch triply.
