The WoodUp made-to-measure three-ply larch panel is made from PEFC-certified three-ply larch (3 cold-glued layers, with the centre layer cross-grained at 90°). It is cut and machined to order to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm long and 10 to 120 cm wide, to the nearest millimetre. The three-ply larch panel combines a cross-layered structure with the natural durability of larch, one of the few European timbers suitable for outdoor use without extensive chemical treatment (naturally class 3). The centre layer, cross-grained at 90°, provides greater mechanical strength than a solid wood panel of the same thickness. The panel is supplied with the finish selected in the configurator: unfinished and sanded, oiled or varnished. If you choose unfinished and sanded, a protective finish is recommended before use.

Tips for use and finishing

If you choose the unfinished, sanded option, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, a polyurethane floor varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt look, a hardwax oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood; reapply every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Finish every face before installation, including those that will be inaccessible once fitted.

Before installation, store the panel flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours so it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity.

WoodUp tip

Before ordering: larch is naturally resistant to moisture (class 3), making it the three-ply timber best suited to sheltered outdoor use. A finish is still recommended to limit the natural greying of wood exposed to light. Available in AB or B grade, depending on your preferred appearance. Allow 10 days for the finish to dry before using the panel.

What is the difference between three-ply larch and three-ply spruce for outdoor use?

Larch (naturally class 3) is much better suited to sheltered outdoor use than spruce, which needs more extensive treatment to withstand moisture. For an outdoor project, such as cladding or furniture for a covered terrace, choose three-ply larch.
