Three-ply Douglas fir panel – made to measure to the nearest mm

WoodUp’s three-ply Douglas fir panel is made from Douglas fir (three plies bonded without heat, with the central ply set at 90°) and is PEFC certified. It is cut and machined to order to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm long and 10 to 120 cm wide, to the nearest millimetre. The panel combines the cross-grain structure of three-ply timber with the natural durability of Douglas fir, a softwood rated durability class 3 without treatment. The central ply, set at 90°, provides high mechanical strength. Douglas fir has a characteristic pinkish to orange-brown colour that changes over time. The panel is supplied with the finish selected in the configurator: sanded and unfinished, oiled or varnished. If you choose the sanded, unfinished option, a protective finish is recommended before use.

Advice on use and finishing

If you have chosen the sanded, unfinished option, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, polyurethane floor varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt appearance, a hardwax oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood; reapply every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Finish every face before installation, including those that will be inaccessible afterwards.

Before installation, store the panel flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours so it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity.

A finish (class 3 wood stain or oil) significantly extends its outdoor life. Available in AB or B grade, depending on the appearance you want. Allow 10 days to dry after application before use.
