Made-to-measure laminated larch panel – sized to the nearest mm

WoodUp’s made-to-measure laminated larch panel is made from PEFC-certified edge-glued larch with non-finger-jointed staves. It is cut and machined to order to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm long and 10 to 120 cm wide, to the nearest millimetre. Larch is a softwood with natural durability class 3, one of the few species suitable for use in sheltered outdoor areas without heavy chemical treatment. Its pinkish to reddish-brown colour turns silvery grey when exposed to UV if left unprotected. The wood offers good resistance to heat and chemicals. The panel is supplied with the finish selected in the configurator: sanded and unfinished, oiled or varnished. If you choose the sanded, unfinished option, a protective finish is recommended before use.

Use and finishing advice

If you have chosen the sanded, unfinished option, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, a polyurethane floor varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best protection. For a natural matt look, a hardwax oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood; reapply every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Apply the finish to all sides before installation, including those that will be inaccessible afterwards.

Before use, store the panel flat in the room where it will be installed for 48 to 72 hours so it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity.

WoodUp tip

Before you order: always apply a protective finish (oil, varnish or wood stain) to preserve the original colour and ensure the wood lasts, particularly in sheltered outdoor use. Larch may release a little resin around knots; sanding these areas before finishing can help reduce this. Outdoor use is limited to sheltered areas: do not expose it directly to the weather without additional protection.

What finish should I apply to this panel?

What is the delivery time?

Is the larch panel suitable for a bathroom or covered outdoor area?

Yes. Larch (natural durability class 3) withstands occasional moisture well, making it suitable for well-ventilated bathrooms and sheltered outdoor spaces, such as covered terraces and areas beneath canopies. A water-repellent finish helps maintain this resistance over time.

Why does larch turn grey over time?

Like all wood exposed to UV without protection, larch naturally develops a grey patina on its surface. This is a cosmetic change that does not affect the wood’s structural strength. To preserve its original pinkish colour, apply a wood saturator or a wood stain with a UV filter and reapply every 1 to 2 years outdoors.
