The WoodUp bespoke spruce triply panel is made from spruce triply (3 cold-bonded plies, central ply crossed at 90°), PEFC certified. It is cut and machined to order according to your exact specifications: 10 to 300 cm in length, 10 to 120 cm in width, to the nearest millimetre. The triply (also known as 3-ply) spruce panel is composed of 3 cold-bonded layers of wood: the outer plies are spruce, the central ply is crossed at 90° to the grain direction of the outer plies. This cross-ply structure gives the panel high mechanical strength and good dimensional stability, comparable to technical plywood but with a natural wood appearance on both faces. The panel is delivered in the finish chosen in the configurator: raw sanded, oiled or varnished. A protective finish is recommended before use if you opt for raw sanded.

Usage and finishing advice

If you have opted for raw sanded, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, a polyurethane varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt appearance, a hard oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood — to be renewed every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Apply the finish to all faces before installation, including those that will be inaccessible once in place.

Before any installation, store the panel flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours to allow it to acclimatise to the ambient humidity.

WoodUp tip

Good to know before ordering: the cross-ply structure of triply makes it more resistant to bending than a solid panel of the same thickness — suitable for furniture, shelving, fitting out and even sheltered exterior cladding. Available in AB quality (uniform appearance, small knots tolerated) or B quality (more pronounced grain, more knots). A finish is mandatory before installation: oil, varnish or stain depending on the use. Allow 10 days to dry after application before putting into service.

Is the spruce triply panel suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, in sheltered outdoor settings (under a canopy, covered terrace) with a suitable finish (exterior stain or class 3 exterior varnish). For exposed outdoor use without protection, this panel is not recommended — spruce remains a softwood sensitive to prolonged moisture without treatment.
