What is a natural wooden post?

A wooden post is a longitudinal piece with a square or rectangular cross-section. Natural wooden posts are used in the construction of timber frames and load-bearing structures. Pressure-treated wooden posts are used outdoors (decking support, fence post). Untreated, a wooden post is a product to be used primarily indoors.

How to choose your wooden posts?

Choose your wooden post according to its intended use. If you are installing a fence or fitting wooden privacy panels, opt for a pressure-treated post (use class 3b, 4 or 5). The choice of cross-section or diameter of the post depends on the height of the fence. For a timber frame, an untreated or surface-treated wooden post is sufficient (use class 1, 2 or 3a). The post cross-section depends on load calculations.

What are the uses of Woodup wooden posts?

You will find two main types of wooden posts. Outdoor wooden posts are often used as fence posts. Indoor wooden posts are more commonly used as structural supports (timber framing, flooring).

Wooden posts for fencing and garden use

These natural wooden posts are garden fence posts. In the form of a log or with a square or rectangular cross-section, grooved, these are posts to be driven into the ground or fixed to a base plate. Wooden fence posts benefit from pressure treatment (class 3b, class 4 or class 5). These posts are made from Scots pine or maritime pine.

Wooden posts for timber framing and interior use

The indoor wooden post has a square cross-section. With or without treatment, it is made from softwood (Douglas fir, fir) or hardwood (oak, ash, beech). Outdoor use is possible (decking support) by applying a surface treatment. The classification (use class) of the indoor wooden post is 1, 2 or 3a.

Woodup wooden post: choosing between rough-sawn or planed timber

Receive quality wooden posts. Woodup has chosen Douglas fir for its mechanical properties. Our untreated posts have a natural durability class 3 (resistant to insects and fungi). They are perfect for constructing timber frames, interior structures, or as decking supports.

The Woodup rough-sawn wooden post

Woodup offers in its range of Douglas fir posts rough-sawn wooden posts. The post is rough-sawn, without re-passing. The angles of the post are straight, but the surface may show visual defects and roughness. A natural appearance is therefore guaranteed.

The Woodup planed wooden post

To facilitate the construction of your timber frame, Woodup offers planed products. Get yourself 4-sided planed posts for a more aesthetically pleasing finish. Receive your posts in a ready-to-use condition. Planed products assemble more easily with galvanised steel accessories.
