Custom oak panel — made to measure to the nearest mm

The WoodUp custom oak panel is made from A/B quality glued laminated oak (non-finger-jointed planks), PEFC certified. It is cut and machined to order according to your exact specifications: 5 to 300 cm in length, 5 to 120 cm in width, to the nearest millimetre. Oak is a hard, dense wood, valued for its mechanical strength and pronounced grain. Its natural tannins can cause black stains on contact with iron: use stainless steel or brass-plated screws and tools for all fixings. The panel is delivered with the finish selected in the configurator: sanded raw, oiled or varnished. A protective finish is recommended before use if you opt for sanded raw.

Configure directly on this page the dimensions, thickness, shape (straight, oval, circle, octagon), edge machining (chamfer, round, quarter-round) and rounded corners. For options on request (drilling, laser printing, digital cutting), contact the WoodUp customer service team before finalising your order.

Usage and finishing tips

If you have opted for sanded raw, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, a polyurethane varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt appearance, a hard oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood — to be renewed every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Apply the finish to all faces before installation, including those that will be inaccessible once in place.

Before any installation, store the panel flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours so that it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity level.

WoodUp Tip

Before ordering, please note: the panel is cut to the exact dimensions entered in the configurator. Allow 1 to 2 mm of clearance on each side if the panel is to fit into a frame. A/B quality means that face A is free from visible defects and face B may have sound knots up to 20 mm: if both faces are visible in your project, please specify this before confirming your order.

Frequently asked questions

Can this panel be ordered with rounded edges or a special shape?

Yes. Several machining options are available in the configurator: chamfer, round and quarter-round for edges, rounded corners, and special oval, circle or octagon shapes. For complex options (drilling, digital cutting, laser printing), contact the WoodUp customer service team before finalising your order.

Can this panel be used outdoors?

No. This panel is intended for indoor use only. For outdoor use or use in a damp environment, opt for a panel with a suitable treatment or a naturally resistant species.

What finish should be applied to this panel?

The panel is delivered sanded, ready to finish. For a surface subject to wear: polyurethane varnish in 2 to 3 coats. For a natural appearance: hard oil to be renewed every 1 to 2 years. For a personalised shade: wood stain or wood paint. In all cases, finish all faces before installation.

What is the delivery lead time?

The panel is made to order and dispatched within 5 to 10 working days. You can track progress from your WoodUp customer account.

What thickness should I choose for an oak worktop?

For a standard worktop, the 40 mm thickness is recommended for spans up to 80 cm without intermediate support. For a short-span shelf (less than 60 cm), 20 mm is sufficient. The 32 mm thickness is suitable for desks and light work surfaces.

Why do black stains appear on oak when it comes into contact with metal?

The natural tannins in oak react on contact with iron, forming indelible black stains. Use exclusively stainless steel or brass-plated screws and fixings. If a stain appears, treatment with oxalic acid can reduce the discolouration before applying the finish.

How do I order drilling or laser printing options?

These options are carried out on request — they do not appear in the online configurator. Contact WoodUp customer service with your plans and specifications before placing your order.
