Made-to-measure oak panel – sized to the millimetre

WoodUp’s made-to-measure oak panel is made from A/B-grade laminated oak (non-finger-jointed strips) and is PEFC-certified. It is cut and machined to order to your exact specifications: 5 to 300 cm long and 5 to 120 cm wide, to the nearest millimetre. Oak is a hard, dense wood valued for its strength and distinctive grain. Its natural tannins can cause black stains when they come into contact with iron: use stainless-steel or brass-plated screws and tools for all assembly work. The panel is supplied with the finish selected in the configurator: unfinished sanded, oiled or varnished. A protective finish is recommended before use if you choose the unfinished sanded option.

Configure the dimensions, thickness, shape (rectangular, oval, circular, octagonal), edge machining (bevelled, rounded, quarter-round) and rounded corners directly on this page. For options available on request (drilling, laser printing, CNC cutting), contact WoodUp customer service before completing your order.

Use and finishing advice

If you have chosen the unfinished sanded option, apply a protective finish before use. For a surface subject to wear, polyurethane varnish (2 to 3 coats) offers the best resistance. For a natural matt look, hard oil penetrates the fibres and nourishes the wood; reapply every 1 to 2 years depending on use. Apply the finish to every face before installation, including those that will be inaccessible once the panel is in place.

Before working with the panel, store it flat in the room where it will be used for 48 to 72 hours so it can acclimatise to the ambient humidity.

WoodUp tip

Before you order: the panel is cut to exactly the dimensions entered in the configurator. Allow 1 to 2 mm of clearance on each side if the panel needs to fit into a frame. A/B grade means face A has no visible defects, while face B may have sound knots up to 20 mm. If both faces will be visible in your project, let us know before confirming your order.

Frequently asked questions

Can I order this panel with rounded edges or a special shape?

Yes. Several machining options are available in the configurator: bevelled, rounded and quarter-round edges, rounded corners, and special oval, circular or octagonal shapes. For more complex options (drilling, CNC cutting, laser printing), contact WoodUp customer service before completing your order.

Can this panel be used outdoors?

No. This panel is for indoor use only. For outdoor use or damp environments, choose a suitably treated panel or a naturally resistant wood species.

What finish should I apply to this panel?

The panel is supplied sanded and ready to finish. For a surface subject to wear, apply polyurethane varnish in 2 to 3 coats. For a natural look, use hard oil, reapplying it every 1 to 2 years. For a customised colour, use wood stain or paint. In all cases, finish every face before installation.

What is the delivery time?

The panel is made to order and dispatched within 5 to 10 working days. You can track its progress in your WoodUp customer account.

What thickness should I choose for an oak worktop?

For a standard worktop, 40 mm thickness is recommended for spans of up to 80 cm without intermediate support. For a shelf with a short span (under 60 cm), 20 mm is sufficient. The 32 mm thickness is suitable for desks and light-duty work surfaces.

Why do black stains appear on oak when it comes into contact with metal?

Oak’s natural tannins react with iron, forming permanent black stains. Use only stainless-steel or brass-plated screws and fittings. If a stain appears, treatment with oxalic acid may reduce the discolouration before the finish is applied.

How do I order drilling or laser printing options?

These options are available on request and are not listed in the online configurator. Contact WoodUp customer service with your plans and specifications before placing your order.
