Wooden canopy porch for garage door - Fir kit BANTARDE
The BANTARDE canopy is a raw fir kit designed specifically to cover a garage door 300 cm wide, the largest standard width in the WoodUp catalogue. Its pronounced slope of 66% ensures rapid rainwater run-off, preventing any standing water on the covering. The straight brackets give it a clean, functional profile, suited to contemporary facades and attached garages.
Three depths are available: 80, 100 or 120 cm, depending on exposure and the level of protection required. The kit includes 2 straight brackets, 2 purlins, the rafters and the assembly screws. Tiles and wall fixing plugs must be sourced separately.

Installation advice
The straight brackets are fixed directly onto the facade, above the garage door. Identify the concrete lintel or the area of solid masonry — this is the strongest fixing point. Use heavy expansion plugs (12 to 14 mm) suited to the weight of the chosen covering. Always pre-drill the timber before screwing.
Fit the two purlins horizontally onto the brackets, then the rafters perpendicularly. The pronounced slope of 66% requires a significant angle of inclination — check the compatibility of your tile with this slope before purchase. Apply a neutral silicone sealant between the upper purlin and the wall to prevent water ingress. Estimated assembly time: 3 to 5 hours with two people.
Maintenance and protection
Apply a microporous wood stain or exterior wood saturator in a minimum of two coats before installation. Reapply every 2 to 3 years on accessible faces. The high slope of 66% promotes drainage and limits moisture build-up on the structure — the lower faces of the rafters remain the areas to treat as a priority.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the BANTARDE and the UGLAS for a garage door?
Both models have the same width of 300 cm and the same available depths. The difference lies in the brackets and the slope: the BANTARDE has straight brackets and a 66% slope — a functional, contemporary profile. The UGLAS has curved brackets — a more traditional profile. Choose according to the aesthetic of your facade.
Is the 66% slope compatible with all tiles?
A slope of 66% corresponds to approximately 33 degrees, which is compatible with the majority of mechanical tiles (minimum slope generally 25 to 30 degrees) and slates. Nevertheless, check the tile manufacturer's specifications before purchase, particularly for flat tiles or large-format slates which may require specific slopes.
Is this canopy suitable for a garage door 250 cm wide?
Yes. The 300 cm width leaves a 25 cm overhang on each side of a 250 cm door, which is sufficient for adequate protection. For a door of 300 cm or more, the canopy is fitted without a lateral overhang — in this case, please consult our made-to-measure model.
Should the fir be treated before installation?
Yes, without exception. Fir is not moisture-resistant without treatment. Apply wood stain or saturator to all faces before assembly. Reapply every 2 to 3 years. The tile covering protects the upper faces — treat the lower faces and brackets as a priority.
Is the BANTARDE suitable for a wide-span canopy?
Yes. With its 300 cm width, the BANTARDE is the widest wooden canopy in the WoodUp catalogue, suited to standard and double-leaf garage doors up to 280 cm. It is the recommended solution when a wide canopy is required without resorting to made-to-measure. For widths exceeding 300 cm, please consult our made-to-measure canopy, available without a defined length limit.
Are the fixing plugs included?
No. The kit assembly screws are included, but wall fixing plugs must be sourced separately. For a reinforced concrete lintel (common above a garage door), 12 mm expansion plugs are generally suitable. For hollow brickwork, chemical anchors are recommended.
