Installation advice

Assemble the slats onto the rails starting from the top and bottom ends. Then fix the diagonal brace starting from the lower corner on the hinge side towards the upper corner on the latch side — this orientation prevents the gate from warping under its own weight. Pre-drill before screwing to avoid splitting. Apply the treatment before fitting the hardware to protect the areas beneath the ironmongery. Choose hinges capable of supporting the weight of the finished leaf — approximately 12 to 15 kg.

Maintenance and protection

Douglas fir: natural greying without loss of strength, annual outdoor oil to maintain the colour. Pine: stain or saturator to be reapplied every 2 years. Check every spring that the rail screws are tight and that the gate is properly aligned to prevent warping.

Yes. The gate is fixed to two load-bearing posts (not supplied) properly anchored in the ground or in an existing wall. For installation on timber posts, choose a minimum section of 9x9 cm anchored to a depth of 60 cm.

What hardware do I need for this gate?

You will need: 2 adjustable hinges (minimum 80 kg capacity), 1 latch or key lock depending on use, and a pull handle. Choose stainless steel or galvanised steel hardware for outdoor use.

Can this gate open in both directions?

No, unless you use double-action hinges. With standard hinges, the gate opens in one direction only. Specify during installation which side you want it to open from.
