Key points

  • 150x24 mm section: solid thickness for a high-strength gate
  • Central rebate included: tight closure of both leaves
  • 3 widths: 300, 350 or 400 cm for all entrances
  • Stainless steel screws supplied: durable assembly with no risk of rust
  • Untreated Douglas fir: class 3 natural durability, compatible with automation

Installation advice

Install the load-bearing posts (not supplied) by concreting them to a minimum depth of 80 cm in the ground or in foundation concrete. The centre-to-centre distance between posts must correspond exactly to the chosen width. Assemble each leaf separately: fix the rails first, then the moulded slats with the screws supplied. Fit the central rebate before hanging the leaves on the hinges. Choose adjustable hinges capable of supporting 40 to 50 kg per leaf. For an automated gate, install the leaves first before any cabling.

Maintenance and protection

Douglas fir greys in 6 to 12 months with no loss of strength. To maintain the colour, apply exterior Douglas oil every spring. Check the hinge adjustment and the clearance between leaves each year — temperature and humidity variations cause the wood to move slightly. The central rebate must align perfectly to ensure proper closure.

WoodUp Tip

What to know before buying: this gate is delivered in 3 parcels with slats, rails, central rebate and stainless steel screws, but without posts, hinges, lock or automation, which must be sourced separately according to your project. The number of slats varies with the chosen width (18 for 3 m, 20 for 3.5 m, 24 for 4 m): verify that your opening corresponds exactly to one of the 3 available widths. The central rebate ensures the junction between the two leaves at closure: check its alignment before the final fixing of the hinges.

Frequently asked questions

Are the posts included in this kit?

No. The load-bearing posts must be sourced separately. For a gate with a 150x24 mm section, use class 4 treated timber posts with a minimum section of 12x12 cm, or concreted-in metal posts.

Is this gate compatible with a gear motor?

Yes, provided you choose automation suited to the leaf weight (40–50 kg) and the opening width. Plan the automation from the outset of the project to anticipate cabling and actuator fixing.

Does the central rebate guarantee a weathertight closure?

The central rebate ensures the two leaves meet neatly in the centre. For a near airtight and sight-proof closure, the 150 mm slats fitted without spacing cover the opening generously. A slight ingress of light at the sides is normal.

Can this gate be ordered in 150 cm height instead of 120 cm?

This model is available in 120 cm height only. For a greater height, build your gate to measure using 150 or 175 cm slats and appropriately sized rails.

What is the difference between the moulded-slat gate and the straight-slat gate?

Only the slat profile. Moulded slats have a relief on the surface on the façade side. Straight slats have a flat, understated surface. The dimensions, section and composition are identical.
