Installation tips
Install the supporting posts (not supplied) by setting them at least 80 cm deep in the ground or in foundation concrete. The centre-to-centre spacing between posts must correspond exactly to the chosen width. Assemble each leaf separately: first fix the rails, then the moulded boards with the screws provided. Install the central rebate before hanging the leaves on the hinges. Choose adjustable hinges capable of supporting 40 to 50 kg per leaf. For a motorised gate, install the leaves first before any wiring.
Maintenance and protection
Douglas turns grey in 6 to 12 months without any loss of resistance. To maintain the colour, apply a Douglas exterior oil every spring. Check the hinge adjustment and the gap between leaves every year — temperature and humidity variations cause the wood to move slightly. The central rebate must align perfectly to ensure proper closure.
Frequently asked questions
Are the posts included in this kit?
No. The supporting posts are to be sourced separately. For a 150×24 mm gate section, use treated timber posts class 4 with a minimum 12×12 cm section, or metal posts set in concrete.
Is this gate compatible with a gate motor?
Yes, provided you choose a motorisation suited to the leaf weight (40–50 kg) and the opening width. Plan the motorisation from the start of the project to anticipate the wiring and actuator fixing.
Does the central rebate guarantee an airtight closure?
The central rebate ensures that the two leaves meet neatly in the centre. For an almost airtight and private closure, the 150 mm boards fitted without spacing cover the opening generously. A slight light infiltration on the sides is normal.
Can this gate be ordered in 150 cm height instead of 120 cm?
This model is available in 120 cm height only. For a greater height, build your gate to measure using 150 or 175 cm boards and appropriate rails.
What is the difference between the moulded-board gate and the straight-board gate?
Only the board profile differs. Moulded boards have a relief on the surface on the façade side. Straight boards have a plain, simple flat surface. The dimensions, cross-section and composition are identical.
