Installation advice

Same procedure as the moulded-board model: anchor the load-bearing posts to a minimum depth of 80 cm, assemble the leaves flat (rails then boards), fit the central rebate, then hang the leaves on the hinges. Use adjustable hinges for fine-tuning after installation. Apply Douglas oil before fitting to protect areas under the ironmongery.

Maintenance and protection

Annual exterior oil or wood stain to maintain the colour. The natural greying of Douglas fir is normal and does not affect its strength. Check the hinge adjustment and alignment of the central rebate every spring.

Frequently asked questions

Which gate width to choose: 3 m, 3.5 m or 4 m?

Measure the clear opening between existing or planned posts. Add 5 cm of clearance on each side for leaf movement. For a 3 m clear opening: choose the 300 cm kit; for 3.5 m: 350 cm kit; for 4 m: 400 cm kit.

Do the straight boards create a fully screening effect?

Yes, if the boards are placed edge to edge without spacing. The 150 mm section creates a solid panel covering the full width. However, a slight expansion gap (2–3 mm) between boards is recommended to allow for wood movement.

Can this gate be combined with a Woodup gate from the same range?

Yes. The Douglas fir straight-board gate 120×100 cm uses the same 150×24 mm section and integrates visually into a fence built with this gate.

Can this gate be installed on a slightly sloping surface?

Yes. On a slight slope (< 5%), adjustable hinges allow the leaves to be aligned. On steeper slopes, a staggered gate (offset to follow the slope) or a sliding gate is more suitable.

Is untreated Douglas fir suitable for a gate in a high-rainfall area?

Yes, thanks to its natural durability class 3. In areas with rainfall> 800 mm/year, double the frequency of exterior oil application (twice a year) for optimum protection.
