Apply an annual exterior oil to preserve the natural colour of the Douglas fir.

Maintenance and protection

Douglas fir turns grey outdoors in 6 to 12 months — this greying is normal and does not affect the strength of the timber. To maintain the pinkish-brown colour, apply a Douglas fir exterior oil or wood stain once a year. The included fixings should be stainless steel to avoid rust marks.
