This extension kit adds 10 cm to the height of the 100 x 100 cm nail-free, screw-free raised bed (base ID). Made from French Douglas fir, 27 mm thick, it uses the same slot-together system as the base module: no tools or fixings are needed. The kit contains 4 boards measuring 1000 x 100 x 27 mm. Two extension kits can be stacked to reach a total growing depth of 40 cm. This kit cannot be used on its own: it requires the 100 x 100 cm base module.

Installation advice

Fit the extension directly onto the empty or lightly filled base module. Slot the 4 boards together, starting at the corners as you would for the base module. If fitting two extensions at once, assemble all three levels before filling with soil. The pressure of the growing medium naturally holds the assembly together. For better stability, fill in 10 cm layers, lightly tamping each layer.

Care and protection

Care is the same as for the base module. Douglas fir turns grey within 6 to 12 months without losing strength. An annual application of exterior wood oil preserves its colour and conditions the wood. For winter storage, dismantle the extension and store the boards under cover with the base module.

Before you buy: this extension is compatible only with the WoodUp 100 x 100 cm base module (ID 1050). Check that you have this model before ordering. Each kit adds 10 cm of growing depth. Up to 2 extensions can be stacked, for a total height of 40 cm.

Frequently asked questions

Can this extension be used without the Woodup base module?

No. This extension kit cannot be used on its own: it must be fitted onto the Woodup 100 x 100 cm nail-free, screw-free base module. The slot-together system is specific to this range.

How many extensions can be stacked?

A maximum of two extensions is recommended, bringing the total height to 40 cm (20 cm base + 2 x 10 cm). Beyond that, lateral pressure could compromise the stability of the assembly.

Is this extension compatible with the 200 x 100 cm raised bed?

No. This kit is sized for the 100 x 100 cm module only. For the 200 x 100 cm raised bed, use the matching 200 x 100 cm extension kit.

Do I need to empty the base module before adding an extension?

No. You can add an extension to a partially filled module by removing a few centimetres of soil around the edges to expose the slots. Ideally, add the extension before the final fill.

How much depth is needed to grow carrots or leeks?

For short carrots (Nantes varieties) or leeks, 30 cm is enough (base + 1 extension). For long carrots (Chantenay varieties), 40 cm is recommended (base + 2 extensions).
