Installation advice
For the 95 cm height, anchor the supporting posts to a minimum depth of 50 cm in the ground to ensure stability. Space the posts 200 cm apart (centre to centre). Assemble the panel by fixing the boards to the two rails with the screws provided, then fix the panel to the posts. Allow for 3 rails (bottom, middle, top) for 95 cm panels exposed to wind. Apply a Douglas oil each spring to maintain the colour.
Maintenance and protection
Massif Central Douglas fir gradually turns grey over 6 to 12 months. This natural greying does not affect its structural resistance. To preserve the pinkish-brown colour, apply an exterior oil or stain annually. Check the posts at their base each spring.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between this 95 cm kit and the 60 cm kit?
The height only — 35 cm more. The 95 cm kit offers a more pronounced visual separation. The materials, composition and length (200 cm) are identical. The choice depends on the desired boundary height.
Is this Douglas kit suitable for a coastal area or humid climate?
Yes, provided regular maintenance is carried out. Class 3 Douglas resists moisture well. In highly exposed coastal areas with salt, apply an exterior oil twice a year to compensate for the more intense exposure.
Can several kits be assembled for a 10-metre fence?
Yes. Each kit covers 200 cm. For 10 metres, plan for 5 kits and 6 posts (1 at each end and 1 between each module). Carefully align the rails from one module to the next.
Are the screws provided sufficient for a 200 cm panel?
Yes, the screws included are calibrated for complete panel assembly. Use stainless steel screws for fixing to the posts (not included) to avoid rust stains.
Can this Douglas kit be painted grey or white?
Yes. Rough-sawn Douglas accepts all microporous exterior paints. Apply a wood primer before the finishing coat for better adhesion and a lasting result.
