Installation advice

Place the base module on a stable, level surface. Interlock the boards starting from the corners — no tools required. If you are fitting a riser at the same time, assemble both levels together before filling. Place a geotextile membrane at the bottom if the bed is placed on a hard surface to retain the soil while allowing water to drain through. Fill with a mixture of light soil and compost (60/40) in layers, lightly compacting between each layer.

Care and protection

Untreated Douglas fir turns grey outdoors within a few months — this greying is normal and does not affect its strength. An outdoor Douglas fir oil applied once a year (in spring) maintains the colour. The fixing-free system makes dismantling easy at the end of the season for cleaning or winter storage. Reassemble dry before putting back into service.

Check that the ground is level before assembly: any unevenness will result in visible gaps once the boards are interlocked.
