Installation advice

Install the load-bearing posts (not supplied) by setting them to a minimum depth of 80 cm in the ground or in foundation concrete. The centre-to-centre distance between posts must correspond exactly to the chosen width. Assemble each leaf separately: fix the rails first, then the moulded boards with the screws provided. Fit the central stop before hanging the leaves on the hinges. Choose adjustable hinges capable of supporting 40 to 50 kg per leaf. For a motorised gate, install the leaves first before any cabling.

Maintenance and protection

Douglas fir greys in 6 to 12 months with no loss of strength. To maintain the colour, apply an exterior Douglas oil every spring. Check the hinge adjustment and the gap between leaves each year — temperature and humidity variations cause slight wood movement. The central stop must align perfectly to ensure proper closure.

Frequently asked questions

Are the posts supplied in this kit?

No. The load-bearing posts are to be provided separately. For a 150x24 mm gate section, use class 4 treated timber posts with a minimum 12x12 cm section, or concrete-set metal posts.

Is this gate compatible with a gear motor?

Yes, subject to choosing a motorisation suited to the leaf weight (40–50 kg) and the opening width. Plan the motorisation from the start of the project to anticipate cabling and actuator fixing.

Does the central stop guarantee a weathertight closure?

The central stop ensures that the two leaves meet cleanly in the centre. For a closure that is nearly airtight and opaque, the 150 mm boards laid without spacing cover the opening generously. A slight light infiltration at the sides is normal.

Can this gate be ordered in 150 cm height instead of 120 cm?

This model is available in 120 cm height only. For a greater height, build your gate to measure using 150 or 175 cm boards and appropriate rails.

What is the difference between the moulded-board gate and the straight-board gate?

Only the board profile. The moulded boards have a surface relief on the façade side. The straight boards have a plain, clean surface. The dimensions, section and composition are identical.
