Maintenance and protection

Apply a suitable finish before first use. Varnish in 2-3 coats on beech and oak, oil-wax on fir. As the Comfort range is preferred for main staircases, a quality finish (varnish) is recommended even on fir. Renew every 5-7 years. Cleaning: damp cloth, neutral pH.

Can the FURKA be trimmed for a height of 270 cm?

Yes. For 270 cm, removing one step (15 steps x 18 cm = 270 cm exactly) achieves the desired height without modifying the step rise. Or trim the stringers slightly according to the diagram in the instructions to keep the 15 steps with an adjusted rise. Check on finished floor and ceiling before any work.

Why does the Comfort range have a landing nosing whereas the Standard range does not always?

The landing nosing is linked to the calculation of the number of steps and the step rise. With a rise of 18 cm for 288 cm: 288/18 = 16 risers, i.e. 15 treads + 1 landing riser = landing nosing required to reach exactly the upper floor level. The Standard range (rise 20 cm for 280 cm: 280/20 = 14) does not always have this half-element.

To be installed simultaneously with the staircase. Fix the wooden posts, then assemble the metal rails horizontally. Height 90 cm minimum, spacing between rails less than 11 cm. Apply varnish to the wooden posts before final fixing.
