DURBIZE curved canopy in aluminium and cellular polycarbonate

The DURBIZE canopy is a contemporary door canopy in aluminium profile and 4.5 mm cellular polycarbonate, available in white or black. Its dimensions of 158 x 90 x 38 cm effectively cover a standard front door up to 130 cm in width, with fixing centres of 80 cm.

Its curved arched shape gives it a clean profile suited to contemporary façades. The integrated gutters channel rainwater to the sides to prevent direct run-off in front of the door. Screws and wall plugs are included in the kit.

Installation advice

Before ordering, check that the fixing wall is load-bearing and in good condition (concrete, solid brick or breeze block). The fixing centres between the two fixing points is 80 cm — measure precisely the available space above your door before drilling. Use wall plugs suitable for the wall material (hammer-in plugs for concrete, expansion plugs for breeze block).

First fix the wall brackets level, then hang the canopy. Two people are recommended for installation. Check the slight forward tilt so that water drains correctly towards the gutters. Clean the gutters regularly to prevent blockages from leaves.

Maintenance and protection

Anodised or powder-coated aluminium requires no special treatment after installation. Cleaning once or twice a year with clean water and mild soap is sufficient to maintain the appearance of the structure. Avoid abrasive or solvent-based products that could scratch the lacquer or anodised coating.

Cellular polycarbonate can be cleaned with a soft damp cloth or a non-abrasive sponge. Avoid using a pressure washer directly on the panel so as not to damage the seals. For limescale deposits, use diluted white vinegar. The panel is UV resistant but may slightly yellow after 10 to 15 years of direct exposure — this is normal and does not affect its mechanical properties.

Frequently asked questions

What door width can the DURBIZE canopy cover?

The DURBIZE canopy, at 158 cm wide, effectively covers a standard front door up to approximately 130 cm in width. Thanks to its 45 cm overhang on each side, it also protects visitors ringing the doorbell. For a wider door, see the 190 cm models such as the ANCE canopy.

Is a load-bearing wall required to install this canopy?

Yes, a solid wall support is essential. The canopy must be fixed to a load-bearing wall in concrete, solid brick or breeze block — never to insulation, plaster alone or lightweight cladding. Before installation, check the wall resistance and the admissible load according to the wall plug manufacturer's specifications.

What is the difference between the DURBIZE canopy and the FONTMARTIN canopy?

Both are curved aluminium and polycarbonate canopies, but the DURBIZE (158 x 90 x 38 cm) is taller and deeper than the FONTMARTIN (158 x 85 x 27 cm). The FONTMARTIN has a lower profile beneath the canopy. Both include an integrated gutter.

Are the fixings included in the DURBIZE kit?

Yes, screws and wall plugs are included in the kit. However, the supplied wall plugs are generic — adapt them according to your wall material (reinforced concrete, breeze block, brick) to ensure a secure fixing for the loads involved.

How do I maintain the polycarbonate on the DURBIZE canopy?

Clean the panel once or twice a year with a soft damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid using a pressure washer directly on the panel and avoid abrasive sponges that scratch the polycarbonate. For limescale deposits, use diluted white vinegar. The polycarbonate may slightly yellow after 10 to 15 years of intense UV exposure — a normal phenomenon with no impact on its strength.
