Installation advice

  1. Prepare the surface: ensure that the fixing wall (wood, brick, concrete…) is clean and stable.
  2. Mark the fixing points: position the canopy, mark the holes, then drill according to the instructions.
  3. Fix the brackets: use the supplied screws and wall plugs for a secure installation.
  4. Protect the wood: apply an exterior paint or wood stain before installation to extend its service life.

Maintenance and protection

Solid natural wood requires treatment before any outdoor exposure. Apply 2 to 3 coats of wood stain, paint or saturator to all faces (including edges) before installation. Without treatment, the wood will gradually grey and deteriorate when exposed outdoors.

Renew the protective treatment every 2 to 3 years depending on exposure (south-facing sides and very rainy areas require more frequent maintenance). The polycarbonate can be cleaned with water and mild soap using a non-abrasive cloth. Inspect the wall fixings annually and tighten if necessary.

Frequently asked questions

How do you install a wood and polycarbonate canopy?

The canopy is delivered pre-assembled. Simply fix the brackets to the wall using the supplied screws. Make sure the supports are properly aligned to ensure a stable and attractive installation.

Does polycarbonate let light through?

Yes, the transparent cellular polycarbonate allows natural light through while providing effective protection against rain.

Is this canopy durable over time?

Yes. The wood is solid and durable, and the polycarbonate is treated to resist UV rays and prevent yellowing.

Can the colour of the canopy be customised?

Absolutely. The wood is raw and can be painted or stained to match the colour of your façade or front door.

Is the canopy suitable for all wall types?

Yes, it can be fixed to a concrete, brick, wood or breeze block wall provided that suitable wall plugs are used for the surface.

What is the difference between the BROUILLY wood canopy and an aluminium canopy?

The BROUILLY canopy brings a natural and warm look that aluminium cannot replicate. In return, the wood requires treatment before installation and maintenance every 2 to 3 years, whereas aluminium is maintenance-free. The BROUILLY is ideal for stone, rustic render or half-timbered façades; aluminium canopies are better suited to contemporary façades and modern cladding.
