The LIMAGNE pitched roof gives a letterbox the look of a little house. Its red bitumen shingle covering, also known as shingle roofing, rests on a structure of unfinished solid fir.
It fits standard-sized letterboxes measuring W 302 x H 300 x D 410 mm and is secured with adhesive, without drilling. Its two slopes direct water down either side of the letterbox.
The gable houses a birdhouse. The fir is supplied unfinished and should be protected with an exterior wood stain before installation, leaving the inside of the birdhouse untreated.

Shingles or zinc?
The range includes two pitched roofs with birdhouses. LIMAGNE has red bitumen shingles, reminiscent of a traditional roof or garden shed. OCEANE is made of zinc, with a more mineral appearance that turns grey over time. Both are installed in the same way, and neither roof covering requires maintenance.
In either case, check the size of your letterbox: 302 mm wide and 410 mm deep, with a flat top. A letterbox recessed into a low wall or one with a domed top is unsuitable.
Installation tips
Before installation: apply an exterior wood stain or wood protector to the exposed fir, keeping it off the shingles and out of the birdhouse.
Adhesive fixing: clean and degrease the top of the letterbox. Apply an exterior-grade fixing adhesive compatible with the letterbox material, then centre the roof and hold it in place for the drying time specified by the adhesive manufacturer.
When to install: fit the roof in late winter so the birdhouse is ready for use in spring.
Care and protection
Bitumen shingles do not need treatment. Remove leaves and moss that trap moisture, without using a pressure washer. Reapply wood stain to the fir as soon as the wood starts to turn grey, outside the nesting season, which runs from spring to early summer.
