This solid beech fruit and vegetable storage cabinet is the most comprehensive food storage unit in the WoodUp range. At 119 cm tall, it has two distinct storage areas: 4 removable shelves for loose fruit and vegetables and 6 sliding drawers for provisions. It lets you organise and store a wide variety of produce under the same conditions. The door with insect-proof aluminium mesh provides protection while maintaining essential airflow.

The spacing between shelves is 11.5 cm and between drawers 10.8 cm – enough to store whole fruit, average-sized vegetables and portions of cheese or cured meats.

Recommended organisation

Shelf area (upper section): whole fruit, slow-ripening vegetables (tomatoes, avocados, squash) and baskets of dried fruit. The 11.5 cm spacing accommodates apples, pears or small squash. The shelves are removable – take one out to store large vegetables (leeks, celery).

Drawer area (lower section): individual cheeses, portions of cured meats, opened preserves and loose spices. The sliding drawers provide easy access without moving the contents of the rows above.

Storage advice

Place the fruit and vegetable storage cabinet somewhere cool and ventilated, away from direct heat. Do not store produce that affects other produce together: apples and potatoes, onions and cheese, or very ripe fruit and delicate vegetables. Clean the shelves and drawers every 2 weeks to remove residue and check the produce.

Care

Wipe the sides, shelves and drawers with a damp cloth. Clean the aluminium mesh with soapy water and a soft brush. For stains from acidic fruit or cheese on the beech, rub with half a lemon, then wipe dry. Annual oiling with sunflower oil or food-grade linseed oil is recommended to keep the wood conditioned.

WoodUp tip

To make the most of the 4 removable shelves, organise produce by how often you use it: put everyday items (seasonal fruit) at eye level on the upper shelves, and less frequently used provisions (preserves, cheeses for ageing) in the lower drawers. A clean tea towel on each shelf absorbs residual moisture and makes weekly cleaning easier.

Before you buy: the cabinet is supplied assembled or as a kit, depending on the order – check when ordering. Handle the sliding drawers gently the first time you use them to adjust their movement. If they are difficult to slide, rub the runners with a piece of wax candle.
