Laminated Beech Cheese Board 35x23cm – Presentation and Storage
This laminated beech board measures 35 x 23 cm and combines two uses: a presentation stand for serving cheeses at the table, and a storage shelf to integrate into WoodUp larder cabinets. Made from laminated beech, it benefits from greater dimensional stability than solid beech and a perfectly flat surface. Its ergonomic handle makes handling easy.
Beech is a taste-neutral wood with no inherent odour, commonly used for kitchen utensils and in food contact applications. It can be lightly oiled with a food-grade oil to enhance surface protection and make cleaning easier.

Usage tips
For table presentation, arrange the cheeses from mildest to strongest in the direction of tasting — from fresh cheeses at the top left to blue-veined cheeses at the bottom right. Add a few dried fruits, walnuts or grapes to complement the board.
For integration into the larder cabinet, the board slides onto the shelf of the medium or large model. It isolates the cheeses from the raw wood of the larder cabinet and makes cleaning easier — simply remove the board and wipe it down.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth after each use. For stains from fatty cheeses or rinds, rub with half a lemon, then rinse lightly and dry immediately. Do not immerse in water or put in the dishwasher. Apply a light coat of food-grade oil (linseed, sunflower) once or twice a year to keep the beech moisturised.
WoodUp tip
To regularly maintain your cheese board, prepare a simple mixture: 1 part coconut oil or food-grade linseed oil + 1 part melted beeswax. Apply warm to the wood, leave to penetrate for 10 minutes, wipe off the excess. This natural treatment lasts several months and gives the beech a very pleasant slightly satin finish.
Good to know before buying: laminated beech may darken slightly with use through contact with fatty cheeses — this is normal and has no effect on hygiene. Regular oiling limits this darkening.
Frequently asked questions
Is this board compatible with all WoodUp larder cabinets?
The 35x23cm board is sized to fit the medium (H35cm, W40xD30cm) and large (H50cm, W40xD30cm) models of the plywood larder cabinet. For the small H21cm model or the solid beech larder cabinet, please check the internal dimensions before ordering.
Can you cut directly on this board?
Laminated beech is hard enough to withstand occasional cutting (portions of cheese, bread). For intensive use as a chopping board, opt for a thick chopping board with a juice groove to preserve the surface of the cheese board.
Can this board be used with very runny cheeses?
For very runny cheeses (vacherin, very ripe brie, open camembert), it is best to keep them in their original box placed on the board. A cheese that runs directly onto the wood can become embedded in the pores of the beech and make cleaning difficult.
What oil should I use to maintain this board?
Any food-grade oil is suitable: linseed oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, virgin olive oil. Avoid industrial finishing oils (tung oil, Danish oil, lacquer) which are not suitable for food contact. Food-grade linseed oil is the most commonly recommended oil for wooden utensils.
Can this board be put in the dishwasher?
No. The intense heat and moisture of the dishwasher will warp and crack solid wood. Always clean by hand with a damp cloth and dry immediately.
