Natural Fir Pizza Board Ø33cm – Table Service and Presentation
This pizza board in natural fir has a diameter of 33 cm – a standard format for an individual pizza up to a large family pizza depending on the thickness of the dough. Made from untreated fir, it offers direct food contact with no risk and gives an authentic serving presentation that enhances the table. Lightweight and easy to handle, it can be placed directly on the table for service.
Fir is a softwood with an open grain – its slightly rough texture naturally grips pizza dough and prevents slipping during cutting. It transfers no taste or smell to food.

Usage tips
Place the pizza directly on the board straight from the oven – fir withstands the heat of a freshly baked pizza. For cutting, use a pizza wheel or a mezzaluna, avoiding heavy lateral movements that cut into the wood. Serve directly at the table: the board can remain in the centre throughout the meal.
For pizzas with a heavy topping of melted cheese, slip a sheet of baking parchment between the pizza and the board – this makes cleaning easier and prevents melted cheese from becoming embedded in the fir grain.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth after each use, without immersing in water. For residues of melted cheese or sauce, rub with half a lemon and leave for 2 minutes before wiping. The fir can be lightly oiled with food-safe oil 2 to 3 times a year to keep the wood hydrated and make cleaning easier. Never put in the dishwasher.
WoodUp Tip
To restore a fir board that has been marked by use, lightly sand the surface with 180-grit sandpaper along the grain, wipe away the dust, and apply a coat of food-safe oil. Fir regenerates very easily – a well-maintained board lasts several years even with daily use.
What to know before buying: fir is a softwood – knife marks will gradually appear on the surface. This is normal and gives the board its authentic, patinated appearance with use. For a cutting surface without marks, a denser beech cutting board is more suitable.
Frequently asked questions
Is this board suitable for a pizza taken directly out of the oven?
Yes. Solid fir withstands the heat of a freshly baked pizza (80–100°C at the surface). Place directly on the board without an intermediate support. Do not put the board itself in the oven – it is not designed for cooking, only for serving.
Can this board also be used as a cutting board for pizza?
Yes, for everyday use. Fir is soft – marks from a pizza wheel and knife will accumulate. This is the natural character of a living wood board. To minimise marks, use a pizza wheel rather than a long-bladed knife.
Is Ø33cm sufficient for a large family pizza?
A diameter of 33cm corresponds to a standard pizza (8 slices). For very large pizzas (Neapolitan format ≥ 35cm), the edges may slightly overhang – this is of no consequence if the board is placed on the table. For a neat service without overhang, this board is suitable for pizzas up to 30–32cm in diameter.
Can this board also be used for presenting other dishes?
Yes. This round wooden board is suitable for presenting aperitif toasts, bruschettas, a round cheese board, or charcuterie. The circular shape lends itself to a fan-style arrangement, which is popular for aperitif service.
How long does this board last with regular use?
With regular care (oiling 2–3 times a year, dry cleaning after use), a fir board can last 3 to 5 years with daily use. The surface can be restored by fine sanding if it becomes too marked.
