Wood worktop

Wood worktop

Essential to the fitted kitchen, the worktop is its most visible part. It is also a surface that houses various fittings. When made from solid wood, the worktop is elegant, natural and particularly stable. It withstands impact, scratches, heat and moisture. Connect your kitchen to the natural world with our glued laminated worktops. You can be assured of exceptional strength and durability.

What is a wood worktop?

A wood worktop is a single-piece slab. Rectangular in shape, it is the centrepiece of a fitted kitchen. Its surface serves as a support for culinary activities. The worktop also links the various fittings together (splashback, sink, hob). Its appearance is generally in contrast with the layout and the décor. Depending on its quality level, a worktop is in melamine, laminate or solid wood.

Characteristics of a wood worktop

Only the solid wood worktop belongs to the category of wood worktops. Of premium quality, it is made from glued laminated wood. This technique gives it its robustness and dimensional stability. The wood species used are numerous (oak, beech, spruce, walnut, etc.).

The visible edge is generally machined with a rounded profile for better aesthetics. Its substantial thickness (30 to 40 mm on average) allows for many domestic activities. Made to measure, it is available up to 300 cm in length and 120 cm in width.

Our different wood worktop models

Discover a wide range of solid glued laminated wood worktops. Make a bold choice for a natural kitchen, with products in softwood or hardwood. All our worktops offer high strength and durability over many years.

Softwood worktops

Our softwood worktops have a light shade. In spruce or larch, they are available in several thicknesses and dimensions. Their fine grain and straight grain integrate perfectly into any type of contemporary-style kitchen. For better resistance to impact and scratches, the application of a protective product is recommended.

Hardwood worktops

Woods from hardwood species offer naturally high resistance to impact and scratches. From medium-hard to very hard, these woods are perfect species for kitchen worktops. In oak, ash, olive ash, beech or walnut, their grain ranges from medium to coarse. With straight or irregular grain, they offer a wide range of appearances. Depending on the species, colours vary from yellow to brown, through pearly white, light or dark brown.

How to choose a wood worktop?

Wood worktops are single-piece elements. They are positioned in the kitchen between the upper and lower units. Their selection must take into account several criteria such as appearance and thickness. The following list should help you order a product that meets your expectations.

The appearance of the worktop

The surface and the edge of worktops are the most visible parts. Their appearance must therefore meet your expectations. Take care to study the colour and shade of the wood when configuring it. Very often, the choice of colours is made in contrast with the kitchen design.

The thickness of the worktop

Solid wood worktops offer a wide range of thicknesses (up to 50 mm). The greater the thickness, the higher their resistance to impact. Thickness also enhances the aesthetics. It gives the kitchen its character and authenticity.

The strength of the wood

Solid wood offers high resistance to impact and scratches. However, notable differences exist between species. Ash, olive ash and oak are the hardest woods. Furthermore, solid wood worktops are durable. Repair by sanding restores them to a new appearance.

The price of the worktop

To ensure your worktop choice is satisfactory, study the prices. Walnut and olive ash are the most expensive species. Conversely, a solid spruce worktop is economical. Please note that prices depend on several parameters. Dimensions, finishes and treatments are added to the price per m² of the wood.
