Installation advice
Choose the size to suit your door width: the 158 cm version for doors up to 130 cm wide, or the 180 cm version for wider entrances. The mounting wall must be load-bearing (concrete, brick or concrete block).
Two people recommended for installation. Ensure correct alignment of the gutter for optimal rainwater drainage.
Maintenance and protection
The anodised aluminium structure requires no treatment after installation. An annual clean with clean water and mild soap is sufficient to preserve its appearance. Avoid abrasive or chemical products on the lacquer.
The acrylic panel should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth only — avoid using a pressure washer directly and abrasive sponges that easily scratch the surface. For minor scratches, a plastic polish can reduce their appearance. Acrylic is more sensitive to impacts than polycarbonate — to be taken into account depending on exposure to branches or hail.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the LUSETTE and the DURBIZE or FONTMARTIN canopy in the contemporary range?
The LUSETTE has an acrylic sheet, while the DURBIZE and FONTMARTIN use multiwall polycarbonate. Acrylic is optically clearer but more susceptible to impacts than polycarbonate. The LUSETTE is available in three specific RAL colours; the contemporary models come in white or black. Choose according to the finish you want and the risk of impacts at the installation site.
Does the acrylic panel yellow over time?
Acrylic resists UV yellowing well and stays transparent longer than standard polycarbonate. As a guide, manufacturers of cast acrylic sheets guarantee against yellowing for 10 to 30 years, depending on the range. Clean it regularly with a soft cloth to prevent limescale and pollution deposits from dulling its appearance over time.
Which size to choose between 158 cm and 180 cm?
The 158 cm version covers a standard door up to 130 cm with a 14 cm overhang on each side. The 180 cm version is suitable for wider entrances (up to 150 cm) or if you want a greater lateral overhang to shelter visitors. Measure your door and the available space above before ordering.
Is the LUSETTE wind-resistant?
Wind resistance depends mainly on the quality of the wall fixings. Use wall plugs suited to your wall type and sized to withstand the static and dynamic (wind) loads.
Is a load-bearing wall required for the LUSETTE?
Yes, the mounting wall must be load-bearing and in good condition. The canopy must be fixed to a solid wall (concrete, solid brick or concrete block) using suitable wall plugs. If you are unsure of the wall material, consult a professional to specify the correct fixings.
