The MOLEDE handrail is an interior beech spindle balustrade designed for quarter-turn staircases. Made from solid beech wood, it provides a secure grip and a classic look suited to both traditional and contemporary interiors. Standard height of 90 cm.

Supplied in raw untreated wood — to be finished before use according to the desired décor (varnish, oil or paint). Compatible with the MOLEDE quarter-turn staircase from the WoodUp range.

Installation advice

The MOLEDE handrail is designed to be installed simultaneously with the MOLEDE staircase. Follow the assembly instructions provided with the staircase for the exact positioning of the newel posts. Check that the final height of 90 cm is maintained after installation (vertical measurement from the nosing of the tread).

Apply the varnish or paint before final fixing to treat the recessed areas. For the handrail, 2 coats of abrasion-resistant satin varnish are recommended.

Maintenance and protection

The wood is supplied raw and untreated. Apply a protective finish before heavy use — satin varnish (2 coats), oil-wax or polyurethane varnish depending on the desired appearance. The handrail, subject to frequent contact, particularly benefits from an abrasion-resistant varnish.

Annual maintenance with a product suited to the chosen finish is sufficient to preserve the appearance of the wood. Avoid abrasive products or solvent-based cleaners, which damage finishes.

The wooden spindle balustrade (MOLEDE model) offers a traditional and warm look, consistent with a natural wood staircase. The black metal rail balustrade brings a contemporary style with a wood/metal contrast. Technically, both comply with safety standards. The choice depends on your interior style: classic/traditional for wood, modern/industrial for black metal.

Is the MOLEDE handrail compatible with other quarter-turn staircases besides the MOLEDE?

The handrail is sized for the MOLEDE WoodUp staircase. It can be adapted to other quarter-turn staircases of similar dimensions, but please check dimensional compatibility (height, width, stairwell opening profile) before ordering. Is beech a good choice for a stair handrail?

Yes, beech is the traditional reference wood for stair balustrades and handrails. Its density (720 kg/m³), hardness (class 2) and smooth surface make it an excellent choice for intensive use. It is more resistant to abrasion than fir but slightly less so than oak. With a 2-coat varnish finish, durability is excellent.
