Connector for Ø16mm Aluminium Rails – Straight Joint, Ellipsis Range

This connector for Ø16mm round rails makes a straight joint between two rail sections in an Ellipsis balustrade. It is used at every joint between modules (between a starter kit and an extension kit, or between two extension kits) to connect the 5 horizontal rails continuously. Available in gloss black and polished stainless steel finishes, it maintains a consistent appearance throughout.

Sold individually; order 5 per joint – one connector per rail. For joints where the balustrade changes direction, use the adjustable-angle rail connector instead of this straight connector.

Installation advice

Order 5 connectors for each straight joint between modules. Insert each rail end into the connector and tighten according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For a perfectly aligned joint, first insert all the rails into their connectors without tightening them. Check the horizontal alignment along the full length, then tighten progressively from post to post.

Care and protection

Anodised aluminium needs no protective treatment. Anodising forms an oxide layer integral to the metal, providing resistance to corrosion, UV and temperature changes without special maintenance.

To maintain the appearance of the connectors, an occasional wipe with a damp cloth is enough. Avoid abrasive products or acidic cleaners, which could dull the anodised surface. In exposed outdoor locations, such as coastal or polluted urban areas, rinsing with clean water once a year is sufficient.

No repassivation or surface touch-up is needed over the normal service life of the balustrade.

Before you buy: this connector is only for Ø16mm round rails in the ELLIPSIS range – do not use it with 16x16mm square rails in the QUADRUM range. It is needed at every straight joint between two sections of rail. For changes of direction, use the adjustable-angle connector. Allow one connector per rail for each joint between modules.

Yes, technically. If a rail is too short to reach the next post, a connector can join two rail sections end to end. However, this is not the standard arrangement: check that the connector is positioned at a bracket or post to prevent the rail from bending midway along its span.

What is the difference between the straight Ellipsis Ø16mm rail connector and the adjustable-angle connector?

The Ellipsis Ø16mm rail connector makes a straight joint (180°). The adjustable-angle connector provides a variable angle for changes of direction.
