The AUBRAC loft ladder provides access to a loft beneath a high ceiling of up to 310 cm. Its 40 cm-wide wooden ladder folds in 4 sections into a wooden frame.

It comes in nine frame sizes, from 120 x 55 to 140 x 70 cm. The 26 mm hatch, including 20 mm of insulation, reduces draughts from the loft.

It comes with a handrail and protective feet, supports 160 kg and meets the EN 14975 standard.

Choosing the right loft ladder

The AUBRAC is suited to rooms with high ceilings, up to 310 cm, where a standard loft ladder only reaches around 280 cm. It needs more room, however: 172 cm of floor space and 168 cm of opening clearance.

Its 26 mm hatch reduces draughts but provides little insulation. If the loft is uninsulated and above a heated room, the AUBRAC 46 mm version is preferable. An AUBRAC 330 cm version is also available for heights up to 330 cm.

Installation tips

Ceiling opening: prepare an opening to fit the chosen frame, allowing around 5 mm of clearance all round. Check that there is at least 135 mm above the ceiling for the frame.

Fixing: check that the frame is square, then secure it firmly to the structure as instructed.

Adjustment: unfold the ladder and trim the final section so that it rests flat on the floor. Fit the handrail, then connect the loft insulation around the frame.

Care and protection

Once a year, check that the screws are tight, inspect the joints between sections and check the condition of the protective feet. Lubricate the hatch and folding mechanisms if they become difficult to operate. The white hatch can be repainted to match the ceiling, provided you do not block the seal between the hatch and frame.
