Installation advice

Exterior treatment is mandatory before installation – apply 2 to 3 coats of wood stain or saturating oil to all faces. The straight-cut spindles (not angle-cut) adapt to the staircase inclination by rotating freely in their housing – check the tightening after adjusting the angle. Fix the handrail securely to the wall side using supports suited to your substrate (concrete, brick, wood).

The minimum regulatory height for an exterior handrail is 90 cm measured vertically from the nosing – check compliance before works are signed off. Two people are recommended for installation.

Maintenance and protection

The glued laminated wood is delivered raw without treatment. Apply 2 to 3 coats of exterior wood stain, oil or saturating oil to all faces (including edges) before installation or upon receipt. Without treatment, the wood deteriorates rapidly outdoors when exposed to the elements.

Renew the protection every 2 to 3 years depending on exposure (south-facing sides and very rainy areas require more frequent maintenance). Inspect fixings annually and tighten if necessary. A scrub brush and soapy water (pH neutral) at the start of the season is sufficient for routine maintenance.
