Installation tips
Measure the height and width of the frame carefully before cutting the battens. For a standard frame: cut 2 battens to the door height (side uprights) and 1 batten to the width (top rail). Pre-drill the battens before screwing to avoid splitting the solid pine. Fix the side uprights first, then the top rail. A mitre or butt joint can be made at the junctions for a neater finish. Apply a finish (paint, stain) after assembly to protect the wood and create a uniform look.
Maintenance and protection
In a raw finish, the batten can be painted or stained in the desired colour. On a painted frame, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient for routine maintenance. To match the shade of the batten to that of the wardrobe doors, an opaque paint is the most reliable solution: a stain or clear varnish will reveal the natural variations inherent in each solid pine board. Check the tightness of fixings annually, particularly if climatic variations in the room cause the wood to move.
Frequently asked questions
How many battens are needed to frame a standard wardrobe door?
For a standard frame (2 uprights + 1 top rail), you need 2 lengths of 210 cm (cut to height) and 1 length of 75 cm (cut to width). For a height of 260 cm, choose the 260 cm lengths for the uprights.
Is this batten compatible with all Woodup wardrobe doors?
Yes. This batten is designed as a complementary accessory for Woodup wardrobe doors (folding, cuttable, louvred). It can also frame panels from other brands of comparable dimensions.
Can this batten be painted white to match a lacquered door?
Yes. Raw planed solid pine takes paint well. Sand with 120-grit paper, apply a wood primer then your satin white paint. The planed finish ensures good adhesion.
Which length should I choose for a door 205 cm in height?
Choose the 210 cm length for the side uprights. You can cut it precisely to 205 cm (or to the desired net height). The 75 cm length will be sufficient for the horizontal rail of a standard opening of 61 to 71 cm.
Will the batten have exactly the same shade as the wardrobe door?
Not necessarily in a raw state: as solid pine is a natural material, each piece has its own shade and grain. For a perfectly uniform look, apply the same opaque paint to both the batten and the door. With a stain or clear varnish, slight shade differences may remain between the elements.
What is the difference between fitting this batten and not fitting it, depending on the door model chosen?
Woodup folding doors Folding louvred door are fixed directly to the ceiling and floor by their own track – no frame is required. The batten becomes useful for cuttable or sliding panels fitted in a raw opening without a door lining: it provides a fixing support for the hinges and gives a finished look to the edges of the opening. Order only if the opening does not already have an existing frame.
