Installation advice
Measure your opening precisely before trimming. Use a circular saw with a fine-tooth blade for a clean cut through solid pine. Sand the cut edges with 120-grit sandpaper before applying a protective finish to the cut edges. Fix the leaf with a minimum of 3 hinges distributed along the height: one at the top, one at the bottom, one in the centre. This leaf is not compatible with a sliding rail — for this type of fitting, please refer to the louvred or cross-panel doors in the range.
Maintenance and protection
Apply a protective finish (varnish, wood stain or microporous paint) to the entire leaf, including the edges, before installation. This step is essential to limit wood movement caused by humidity variations. For routine maintenance on treated wood, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. As solid pine is a natural material, two leaves ordered separately may show a slightly different shade; an opaque paint evens out the appearance, whereas a wood stain or clear varnish will allow this variation to show. Renew the finish every 5 to 8 years depending on exposure and frequency of use.
Frequently asked questions
How do I trim this solid pine wardrobe door?
Use a circular saw fitted with a fine-tooth blade (60 teeth minimum) to avoid tearing the wood fibres. Mark the cut line in pencil and guide the saw with a straightedge. Then sand the edges with 120-grit sandpaper and apply a coat of finish to the cut edge.
Is this door leaf compatible with a sliding rail system?
No. This door leaf is designed for fixing with standard hinges only. For sliding rail mounting, please refer to the louvred or cross-panel models in the Woodup range.
How many hinges should be planned per door leaf?
Allow a minimum of 3 hinges per leaf, distributed at the top, centre and bottom. For leaves in the 2,524 mm height, 4 hinges are recommended for better stability.
Can two identical leaves be ordered for a double opening?
Yes. This door leaf is sold individually. For a double-door opening, order two of the same size. The total width will then be twice the width of one leaf, plus the necessary clearances.
Why may the shade vary between two leaves ordered separately?
Each solid pine board has its own shade and grain depending on how the tree was cut and how it grew. Two leaves ordered at different times may therefore show a slight colour variation, which is not a defect. An opaque paint applied across all leaves ensures a uniform appearance.
What is the difference between this trimmable leaf and non-trimmable folding doors?
Folding doors are supplied with a rail and complete hardware, and are not height-adjustable. This trimmable leaf is sold without hinges but can be adapted to any opening by trimming the height — the preferred option when the available height is less than the standard 205 cm of folding doors.
