This double-action spring hinge lets a door swing in both directions and return to the closed position on its own. Made of metal and 75 mm high, it is suitable for saloon-style western doors and two-way swinging internal doors.

Use the supplied key to adjust the spring tension for a faster or slower return. The hinge screws to the side of the doorway, unlike two-way swinging pivots, which attach to the floor and lintel.

It is sold individually: allow 2 hinges per door leaf, or 4 for a double-leaf western-style door.

Choosing the right hardware for your western-style door

Western-style doors can be fitted with two-way swinging pivots, attached to the floor and lintel, or double-action spring hinges, screwed to the side of the doorway. Both allow the door to swing in either direction and return to the closed position.

Choose hinges when you do not want to drill into the floor, for example if it is tiled or has underfloor heating, or when you want to adjust how quickly the door leaves return. Allow 2 hinges per leaf.

Set-up advice

Position the hinges 15 cm from the top and bottom of the door leaf. Drill pilot holes before screwing, particularly in solid pine. Attach each hinge to the leaf first, then to the side of the doorway, checking that it is plumb.

Then use the supplied key to adjust the tension equally on both hinges of each leaf, so it returns smoothly to the closed position.

Care and protection

Lubricate the spring mechanism once a year with a few drops of light oil. If it squeaks, clean the mechanism and lubricate it again. Avoid corrosive products; the hinge is designed for indoor use.
