This western-style door is made to your dimensions: enter the height and width between the frame uprights to the millimetre, and choose 1 or 2 leaves. It therefore fits unusual openings that are too narrow or too wide for standard doors.

Six materials are available: 3-ply Douglas fir, fir, 3-ply beech, 3-ply spruce with an aged-wood effect, black Valchromat or light grey Valchromat. The compass or line design is engraved on both sides, and both the top and bottom can be cut with a rounded, curved or straight edge.

Two-way swinging pivots or spring hinges can be added directly in the configurator. The door is made to order and dispatched within 10 days to 2 weeks.

Western-style doors can be fitted with two-way swinging pivots, attached to the floor and lintel, or double-action spring hinges, screwed to the side of the doorway. Both allow the door to swing in either direction and return to the closed position.

Set-up advice

Measurements: measure the width between the frame uprights and the desired height in millimetres. If fitting hinges, allow for the space they take up and the gap between the leaves.

Installation: pivots attach to the floor and lintel; spring hinges screw to the side of the doorway, 2 per leaf. Drill pilot holes in natural wood before screwing.

Care and protection

For natural woods—Douglas fir, fir, beech or spruce—apply an indoor wood varnish, oil or stain to achieve the finish you want. Valchromat is coloured throughout: a slightly damp cloth is all you need to clean it. Lubricate the pivots or hinges once or twice a year.

One or two leaves: which should you choose?

A single leaf suits narrow openings, below approximately 70 cm, or situations where the door needs to swing to one side only. Two leaves give the classic look of saloon doors and each takes up less space when opened.

What is Valchromat?

It is a wood-fibre panel coloured throughout: its black or light grey colour is the same at the surface and at its core. The engraved design therefore reveals the same colour, without the contrast of lighter wood, giving it a contemporary look.
