Installation tips
Measure the wall opening before ordering: allow 73 cm for 68 cm leaves and 83 cm for 78 cm leaves. This 5 cm clearance is essential for pivoting. Order the pivot kit Swing pivots separately. Fix the bottom pivot to the floor by pre-drilling, then the top pivot to the lintel in vertical alignment. Apply a finish (varnish or wood stain) to the raw pine before installation to protect the wood, particularly if the doors are exposed to a humid atmosphere.
Maintenance and protection
Untreated raw pine can be left natural for an authentic finish. To preserve the appearance, apply a clear wood stain or wood oil every 2 to 3 years. Dust the louvred slats with a soft brush two to three times a year. In the event of a surface scratch, light sanding with 120-grit sandpaper followed by a touch-up finish restores the original appearance. Lubricate the pivots once a year with a few drops of light oil.
Frequently asked questions
Are the pivots included with these doors?
No. The swing pivots are sold separately Swing pivots. If you prefer a complete kit with doors and pivots included, see the product Western pine door kit + pivots.
What is the exact height of these western doors?
The height follows the witch's hat profile: 99 cm on the sides and 104 cm in the centre. This rounded shape is characteristic of the saloon style.
Can these doors be painted in colour?
Yes. Raw pine accepts paint well after light sanding with 120-grit sandpaper and a wood primer. For the louvred slats, use a fine brush to reach the gaps and avoid runs.
Are these doors suitable as a kitchen-living room divider?
Yes, that is a typical use. The louvred panel allows light and air to pass through while creating a partial visual separation. In a kitchen, clean the slats regularly to prevent grease build-up between the louvres.
What is the difference between the Natural pine western door (natural) and the White lacquered western door (white lacquered) doors?
Both models have the same format and mechanism. The difference lies in the finish: Natural pine western door is in natural raw pine to be treated yourself, White lacquered western door is in white satin-lacquered MDF ready to install. The Natural pine western door offers more freedom of customisation; the White lacquered western door is immediately usable without any treatment.
