The straight glued-laminated beech CHOLLIARD staircase is one of the most compact straight staircases in the WoodUp range for a 280 cm floor-to-floor height. With a footprint of just 214 cm and 13 steps, it suits layouts where floor space is very limited. It is 80 cm wide, with 190x30 mm treads, a 16 cm tread depth and a 20 cm step height.

The 16 cm tread depth is shorter than that of the Standard range (19 cm): the pitch is steeper and the stairs are less comfortable to climb than a standard staircase. Consider this in relation to the users. The glued-laminated beech is supplied unfinished and must be finished before use. Delivered in 2 packages. The recommended stairwell opening is 85x214 cm.

The 16 cm tread depth means a steeper pitch than average – consider who will regularly use the stairs when choosing. Assemble the stringers and treads according to the instructions. Pre-drill before screwing into the beech. Fix the staircase to the floor and upper support. The handrail can be added after assembly, on either the right or left side.

Care and protection

Apply 2–3 coats of staircase floor lacquer before first use (renew every 5–7 years). Unfinished beech quickly absorbs dirt without protection. Clean with a damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner.

At just 214 cm, it lets you install a straight beech staircase in an area comparable to that needed for a standard space-saving staircase. The trade-off is a 16 cm tread depth – at the limit of comfort for intensive daily use. If children or older people will use it as the main staircase, the CHEVALARD (19 cm tread depth, 259 cm footprint) is more suitable.

Before you buy: an 85x214 cm stairwell opening is the minimum size – allow a few extra centimetres for installation clearance (a length of 217 cm is recommended). The handrail is optional and can be fitted after the staircase is assembled.
