Connector for 16x16mm Square Rails - Straight Joint, Quadrum Range

This connector joins two sections of 16x16mm square rail from the Quadrum range in a straight line. Use it at each straight-line connection between modules: between a starter kit and an extension kit, or between two extension kits. Each joint requires 5 connectors (one per horizontal rail) and 1 Quadrum handrail connector to complete the continuous balustrade.

Available in gloss black and polished stainless-steel finish, it keeps the whole Quadrum installation looking consistent. For joints where the direction changes, replace this straight connector with Quadrum 16x16mm articulated rail joints. It is compatible exclusively with 16x16mm square rails in the Quadrum range and cannot be used with the Ø16mm round rails in the Ellipsis range.

Installation tips

Order 5 connectors for each straight joint between modules. Cut the rail ends square with a hacksaw and deburr the edges before inserting them. First insert all the rails into their connectors without tightening them, check the horizontal alignment along the full length of the installation, then tighten them gradually. For a virtually invisible joint, position the connectors at a post so the rail support conceals the assembly.

Care and protection

Clean with soapy water once a year. Check that the connectors are tight annually: thermal expansion outdoors can slightly loosen screwed joints. Rinse with fresh water in marine environments.

Before you buy: this connector is only for 16x16mm square rails in the QUADRUM range. Do not confuse them with Ø16mm round rails in the ELLIPSIS range. It joins rails in a straight line; use the articulated joint for changes of direction. Allow one connector per straight-line rail joint between each connected QUADRUM module. Can this connector be used to extend a rail that is too short?

Technically, yes: two rail sections can be joined end to end with this connector, even away from a joint between modules. For a stable result, position the connector at a post support rather than midway along an unsupported span. A rail joined midway along an unsupported span may flex slightly under sideways pressure.

What is the difference between the straight Quadrum 16x16mm rail connector and the articulated joint?
