Connector for 16x16mm Square Balusters - Straight Inline Joint, Quadrum Range
This connector ensures a straight inline joint between two sections of 16x16mm square balusters from the Quadrum range. It is used at each connection between modules in a straight line - between a starter kit and an extension kit, or between two extension kits. Each joint requires 5 connectors (one per horizontal baluster) and 1 Quadrum handrail connector to ensure full continuity of the guardrail.
Available in gloss black and gloss stainless steel finishes, it maintains the visual consistency of the Quadrum ensemble. For joints involving a change of direction, this straight connector must be replaced by the articulated baluster connectors Articulated connector for 16x16mm Quadrum balusters. It is exclusively compatible with the 16x16mm square balusters of the Quadrum range - not interchangeable with the round Ø16mm balusters of the Ellipsis range.

Installation tips
Order 5 connectors per straight inline joint between modules. Cut the baluster ends perpendicular with a hacksaw and deburr the edges before insertion. Insert all balusters into their connectors without tightening first, check horizontal alignment along the full length of the installation, then tighten progressively. For a perfectly invisible joint, position the connectors at post level - the assembly will be framed by the baluster support.
Care and protection
Clean with soapy water annually. Check connector tightness once a year - thermal expansion outdoors may slightly loosen screwed assemblies. Rinse with fresh water in coastal environments.
WoodUp tip
Important before purchasing: this connector is reserved for the 16x16mm square balusters of the QUADRUM range — do not confuse with the round Ø16mm balusters of the ELLIPSIS range (ID 782). It handles straight inline joints; for changes of direction, use the articulated connector (ID 808). Allow one connector per straight inline baluster joint between each connected QUADRUM module. Clamping screws are included.
Frequently asked questions
How many baluster connectors are needed to join 3 Quadrum modules?
3 modules (1 starter kit + 2 extension kits) have 2 joints: you therefore need 10 square baluster connectors (5 per joint, 16x16mm Quadrum baluster connector) and 2 Quadrum handrail connectors. Plan this purchase when ordering the kits to avoid delays on site.
Is this connector compatible with the round Ø16mm balusters from the Ellipsis range?
No. This connector is designed for the 16x16mm square balusters of the Quadrum range. The round Ø16mm balusters of the Ellipsis range have a round profile - their dedicated connectors are the Ø16mm Ellipsis baluster connector. Even if the nominal dimensions appear similar, the internal housings of the connectors are different.
Can this connector be used to extend a baluster that is too short?
Technically yes - two baluster sections can be joined end to end with this connector, even outside a module junction. For a stable result, position the connector at a post support rather than in the middle of a free span. A baluster joined mid-span without support may flex slightly under lateral load.
What is the difference between the straight connector 16x16mm Quadrum baluster connector and the articulated connector?
The 16x16mm Quadrum baluster connector provides a straight inline joint (180°). The articulated connector allows a variable angle for changes of direction. Use the 16x16mm Quadrum baluster connector for all straight inline joints between modules, and the Articulated connector for 16x16mm Quadrum balusters only for angles. They are not interchangeable.
Does this Quadrum baluster connector withstand outdoor use?
Yes. Anodised aluminium requires no additional treatment outdoors. The Quadrum range is suitable for both interior and exterior use. In coastal environments, rinsing with clean water once a year is sufficient to maintain the anodised finish without any particular effort. Straight connectors have no moving parts: no mechanical maintenance is required.
