Quadrum Aluminium Extension Kit - 100cm Extension for Square Rail Balustrade

The Quadrum extension kit allows you to extend an existing Quadrum balustrade by 100 cm per module. It connects directly to the Quadrum aluminium starter kit or to another extension kit to cover spans of 220 cm, 320 cm or more. Comprising one pre-assembled post, a 100 cm handrail and five 100 cm square rails, it is available in gloss black or gloss stainless steel finishes to remain consistent with the starter kit.

Anodised aluminium guarantees corrosion resistance with no special maintenance required - this kit is equally suited to indoor and outdoor use, including in coastal environments with regular rinsing with fresh water. Junction accessories between modules (rail and handrail connectors) and floor fixings are not included - they must be ordered separately according to your configuration.

Installation advice

Connection: Position the extension kit in line with the starter kit. Connect the square rails between modules using the Quadrum connectors Quadrum 16x16mm rail connector. Connect the handrail using the 80x30mm horizontal connectors Articulated connector MC Quadrum 80x30mm. If your configuration includes a corner, use the articulated connectors Articulated connector for Quadrum 16x16mm square rails. These accessories must be ordered separately.

Fixing: Fix the extension kit post to the floor with fixings suited to your substrate (not supplied). Align the post carefully with the starter kit posts before fixing the rails - a misaligned post creates tension in the rails and strains the junctions. Check the horizontal alignment of the rails with a spirit level before final tightening.

Maintenance and protection

Same maintenance as the starter kit: annual cleaning with soapy water, rinse with fresh water in coastal environments. Anodised aluminium cannot be painted or treated - the anodising is a permanent surface protection. Check the tightness of the junction accessories annually, as they may loosen slightly due to thermal expansion and contraction outdoors.

WoodUp tip

Important before purchasing: this extension kit is only compatible with the QUADRUM range — it cannot be used on its own or with the ELLIPSIS range. It requires a QUADRUM starter kit (ID 719) as a base. Each module adds 100cm of span. To calculate the number of modules: (total span - 120cm) ÷ 100cm = number of extension kits required. Rail connectors and angle connectors must be ordered separately if your configuration includes a change of direction.

Yes. The Quadrum system is designed to be stacked. 1 starter kit + 2 extension kits = 320cm span. 1 starter kit + 3 extension kits = 420cm. There is no theoretical limit, but beyond 4-5 metres, check the rigidity of the assembly - an additional intermediate post may be necessary. Order as many extension kits as needed, making sure to order the corresponding junction accessories.

Are the junction accessories specific to the Quadrum range?

Yes. The Quadrum rail connectors, the handrail connectors Articulated connector MC Quadrum 80x30mm and the articulated connectors Articulated connector for Quadrum 16x16mm square rails are specific to the Quadrum range and are not compatible with the Ellipsis range. Always check that you are ordering accessories from the correct range before finalising your order.

Does the gloss black finish resist scratches under heavy use?

No, the Quadrum extension kit is exclusively compatible with the WoodUp Quadrum starter kit. The 80x30 mm handrail profile, the 16x16 mm square rails and the fixing brackets are specific to this range. The connectors and fittings (articulated connectors, rail connectors) are also Quadrum-specific and are not interchangeable with the Ellipsis range or other brands.
