Individual Post Quadrum Range in Anodised Aluminium - Rail Brackets and Base Shoe Included
This individual post from the Quadrum range is a structural element in anodised aluminium designed to complement or customise an existing Quadrum balustrade. It is delivered with its square rail brackets and its fixing base shoe - it fixes directly to the floor without any prior assembly of these elements. It is used primarily to add an intermediate post on a long span, or to build a balustrade entirely piece by piece.
Available in gloss black and gloss stainless steel finishes, it maintains the visual consistency of the Quadrum assembly. The floor fixing hardware is not included as it depends on the substrate (concrete, wood, tiles). This post is exclusively compatible with the WoodUp Quadrum range - the rail brackets are sized for 16x16mm square rails.

Installation tips
Fix the base shoe to the floor with suitable fixings (not included) before positioning the post. On concrete: Ø8mm expansion anchors. On a timber floor: Ø6mm stainless steel screws, minimum 50mm length. Check the post is vertical on both axes using a spirit level before final tightening. If this post is added in an intermediate position on an existing span, connect the rails on both sides using 16x16mm Quadrum rail connectors.
Maintenance and protection
Clean with soapy water annually. Check the tightening of the base shoe and rail brackets once a year. Rinse with fresh water in marine environments after episodes of salt wind.
WoodUp Tip
What to know before purchasing: this individual post is designed exclusively for the QUADRUM range — it is not compatible with the ELLIPSIS range, whose rail brackets are different. Check that the finish (matt black or brushed stainless steel) matches your existing installation. This post is used to complement or customise a QUADRUM balustrade — it requires a starter kit (ID 719) as the base of the installation.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Quadrum post interchangeable with the Ellipsis post?
No. The Quadrum post has a flat profile with 16x16mm square rail brackets. The Ellipsis post has a round profile with Ø16mm round rail brackets. The two ranges use specific, non-interchangeable components. Always check that you are ordering within the same range as your existing installation.
What spacing should an intermediate Quadrum post be placed at?
The Quadrum system is designed for modules of 100cm (extension kit) and 120cm (starter kit). If you are adding an intermediate post on an existing span, place it in the middle of the relevant section. Beyond 200cm without an intermediate post, rail deflection under lateral load may become noticeable - it is advisable to add a post.
Is the floor fixing hardware really not included in the kit?
Yes. The floor fixing hardware is not included because it depends on the type of substrate and local standards. Allow for Ø6mm stainless steel screws (timber floor) or Ø8mm expansion anchors (concrete) with the corresponding washers. For tiles, use a diamond drill bit before fitting nylon anchors suited to the thickness of the slab.
Can this individual post be used to build a Quadrum balustrade from scratch without a kit?
Yes. By combining several individual Quadrum posts Individual Quadrum post with 16x16mm square rails, an 80x30mm handrail and the appropriate connectors, you can build a fully bespoke piece-by-piece balustrade. This approach suits atypical configurations where standard kits do not fit. It requires precise planning of rail and handrail lengths.
Does this Quadrum post withstand a significant lateral force (a child leaning on it)?
The Quadrum post in anodised aluminium, correctly fixed to the floor via its base shoe with suitable fixings, withstands the regulatory lateral forces defined by standard NF P01-012 (horizontal force of 500 N/ml). The strength depends primarily on the quality of the floor fixing - an insufficiently anchored base shoe is the main cause of failure. On concrete, use Ø8mm expansion anchors with a certified pull-out resistance. On a timber floor, screw into the load-bearing structure (joist or batten) and not into the floor covering alone.
