Beech spindle balustrade kit 2m + 2 posts
Glued laminated beech balustrade kit 2mx1m — 2 posts 70x70mm, handrail 50x50mm, bottom rail, 10 spindles 65x20mm, floor brackets included. Height: 1m. Floor fixing hardware not supplied. Indoor use only.
Glued Laminated Beech Balustrade Kit 2m + 2 Posts – Interior Balustrade Height 1m
This balustrade kit in glued laminated beech covers a span of 2 metres for a total height of 1 metre, compliant with the standards for interior landing balustrades (NF P01-012). Glued laminated beech differs from solid beech by its better dimensional stability: the timber laminations are assembled in cross layers, which reduces shrinkage and warping in interior conditions.
The kit is complete for direct installation: 2 posts 70x70mm with their floor fixing brackets included, a 50x50mm handrail, a bottom rail, 10 spindles 65x20mm and assembly hardware. Only the floor fixing hardware is not supplied, as it depends on the substrate material (timber, concrete, tiles). The beech is delivered raw, untreated: a protective finish should be applied before use to protect the wood from contact and ambient moisture.
This product is designed exclusively for indoor use. Glued laminated beech is sensitive to moisture and deteriorates rapidly when exposed outdoors without protection.

Installation advice
Preparation: Check that the surface is dry, flat and stable. For installation on concrete, use expansion anchors suitable for the weight of the balustrade. On a timber floor, long wood screws (≥ 60 mm) are sufficient.
Assembly: Assemble the balustrade flat before putting it in place. Follow the order: bottom rail → spindles → handrail → posts. Pre-drilled holes are machined to facilitate alignment. Check the perpendicularity of the posts with a spirit level before tightening.
Floor fixing: Fix the post brackets to the floor with fixings appropriate for your substrate. Progressive tightening torque avoids cracking the brackets. Floor fixing hardware is not supplied — provide stainless steel screws or anchors depending on the material.
Finishing: Apply a protective finish (varnish or oil-wax) before use. Glued laminated beech takes paint and varnish very well. Avoid strong solvent-based products in confined spaces.
Maintenance and protection
Glued laminated beech, used in dry interiors, is a durable wood provided it is protected. Without a finish, it is sensitive to stains and ambient moisture. Once varnished or oiled, cleaning with soapy water twice a year is sufficient. For a varnish, apply a light additional coat every 5 to 7 years depending on traffic intensity. Avoid any exposure to moisture or prolonged condensation.
Frequently asked questions
Can this beech balustrade be used outdoors with a treatment?
No. Even with a treatment, glued laminated beech is not suitable for permanent outdoor exposure. Glued laminated timber deteriorates with prolonged moisture. For outdoor use, opt for timber classified 3b or 4 (Douglas fir, larch, black locust) or choose WoodUp's Quadrum or Ellipsis aluminium ranges.
What fixings should be used to secure the brackets to a concrete floor?
On concrete, use Ø8 mm expansion anchors as a minimum, or chemical anchors for thick substrates. Choose stainless steel fixings to prevent rust. For a timber floor, long wood screws (≥ 60 mm) Ø5 mm are sufficient.
Can this kit be extended to cover a span greater than 2m?
Yes. Combine it with the 1m + 1 post kit or with other 2m kits. Posts should be spaced a maximum of 1.5 m apart. For a 3m span, combine a 2m + 2 post kit with a 1m + 1 post kit. Visual continuity is ensured if the pieces come from the same WoodUp beech range.
What finish should be used for the beech of a mezzanine balustrade?
For a heavily used mezzanine, the 2–3 coat stair varnish is the most durable solution (resistance to impact and abrasion). For a warm natural look, oil-wax is ideal but requires renewal every 2 years. Beech also takes white paint or tinted wood stain very well to harmonise with the décor.
