ESPINAS Grey Epoxy Metal Balustrade and Beech Handrail – Interior Spiral Staircase

The ESPINAS balustrade is a two-material model in grey epoxy metal and natural beech, designed for contemporary spiral staircases from the brands Baruchet, Chansert and Pelle. Its structure comprises 11 grey epoxy metal balusters of 18mm diameter for a length of 1 metre and a finished height of 1 metre. The round metal baluster infill provides a contemporary, clean look, enhanced by the natural warmth of the solid beech handrail.

The beech handrail is supplied raw and untreated — a protective finish must be applied before use. Floor fixing screws are not included (to be selected according to the substrate). For interior use only.

Apply the finish to the beech handrail before installation — once fitted to the staircase, access to the underside is difficult. Beech handrail: apply varnish or oil before installation, light annual maintenance with soapy water. Grey epoxy metal structure: wipe clean with a damp cloth, avoid abrasive products. This product is designed for dry indoor use — do not expose to moisture.

What finish is best suited to a beech handrail on a spiral staircase?

For a spiral staircase in heavy use (sole means of access to the upper floor), 2–3 coats of varnish are recommended — it forms a durable protective film resistant to knocks and scratches, essential on a heavily used handrail. Apply before assembly to cover all faces of the handrail, including the underside and edges.

Does the ESPINAS balustrade require any specific tools for installation?

A drill, a spirit level and a screwdriver are sufficient. The supplied instructions indicate the required drill diameters depending on the material of the spiral staircase steps. For steel steps (metal spiral staircase), use an HSS metal drill bit and self-tapping screws or pop rivets depending on the metal thickness.

What is the lifespan of the grey epoxy metal structure indoors?

In dry indoor conditions, the grey epoxy metal structure will last several decades without visible deterioration, provided it is not exposed to prolonged moisture. Interior epoxy is highly resistant to knocks and minor scratches. In the event of a deep scratch, a touch-up with a commercially available grey epoxy paint will prevent any localised oxidation.

Is this balustrade supplied assembled or as a kit?

The ESPINAS is supplied as a self-assembly kit with instructions. Installation is straightforward with a drill, a spirit level and a screwdriver. Allow approximately one hour for full installation. Apply the finish to the beech handrail before assembly to cover all faces easily — once fitted to the spiral staircase, some faces of the handrail become difficult to access.
