LUSETTE Balustrade – Metal Structure and PVC Handrail for Chemintrand and Chery Staircases

The LUSETTE balustrade is a safety barrier made of grey epoxy-coated metal with a black PVC handrail, designed specifically to fit spiral staircases by Chemintrand and Chery. Its design takes account of the dimensions and connection requirements of these two staircase ranges, allowing installation without structural modifications. Its finished height is 1 metre, in line with French regulations for landing balustrades.

The grey epoxy-coated metal resists scratches and impacts well in indoor use. The black PVC handrail provides a comfortable grip and needs minimal maintenance – a wipe with a damp cloth is enough to keep it clean. This balustrade comes as a kit with assembly instructions and is intended for indoor use only.

Installation tips

Before ordering, check that your staircase is a Chemintrand or Chery model – this balustrade is sized for their specific fixing systems. Follow the supplied installation guide. Choose floor fixings to suit your supporting surface (wood, concrete or tiles). The balustrade is designed exclusively for indoor use – outdoor use is not recommended.

Care and protection

Metal structure: dust with a dry cloth and clean occasionally with mildly soapy water. PVC handrail: wiping with a damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products on the epoxy coating. If the metal is deeply scratched, touching it up with a commercially available grey epoxy paint helps protect it against oxidation.

WoodUp tip

Good to know before buying: this balustrade is designed specifically for Chemintrand and Chery staircases – it is not universal. Check the exact model of your staircase before ordering. The black PVC handrail resists wear but cannot be stained or painted. Floor fixings are not included: choose them to suit your supporting surface (wood, metal or concrete). Assembly follows the supplied instructions – read them in full before starting.

Frequently asked questions

Is this LUSETTE balustrade compatible with other brands of spiral staircase?

No. LUSETTE is designed specifically for Chemintrand and Chery staircases – its fixing points and connection dimensions are specific to these two brands. For other brands of spiral staircase, look at the ESPINAS ESPINAS balustrade, OUMENET OUMENET balustrade or TRIBALE TRIBALE balustrade, which offer other compatibilities. Contact WoodUp with the exact brand of your staircase if you are unsure.

Can the PVC handrail be replaced with a wooden one?

This model comes with a black PVC handrail as standard. Compatibility with a wooden handrail depends on the connection profile of the metal structure. Contact WoodUp to find out whether a version with a beech handrail is available for this specific model.

What is the regulation height for an indoor staircase balustrade?

French regulations (Article R111-15 of the Construction Code) require a minimum height of 90 cm for a staircase balustrade along a flight and 1 metre for a landing balustrade. At 1 metre high, this LUSETTE balustrade complies with the requirement for use on a landing. Its 1 m height also complies when installed along a staircase, exceeding the 90 cm minimum.

Can this balustrade be used outdoors with additional protection?

No. The epoxy-coated metal structure is designed for dry indoor environments – its coating does not offer the corrosion resistance of galvanised metal or stainless steel. Exposure to the elements would quickly degrade the surface protection. For an outdoor balustrade, see the TRIBALE balustrade or PEYROL balustrade.

Can this LUSETTE balustrade be installed without fixing its base to the floor?

No. Fixing the base to the floor is essential for the balustrade’s safety – an unanchored balustrade does not meet standards for resistance to lateral force (NF P01-012 requires resistance to a horizontal force of 500 N per linear metre). Floor fixings are not included in this kit because the appropriate type depends on the supporting surface. Obtain them before installation day to avoid interrupting the work.
