OUMENET Metal Balustrade with Beech Handrail – for Indoor CEYSSAT Staircases
The OUMENET balustrade combines a metal frame with a natural solid beech handrail and is designed to fit the CEYSSAT staircase. This pairing of metal and wood creates a warm, contemporary look, with the natural wood of the handrail softening the clean lines of the metal frame. Its finished height is 1 metre, meeting regulations for indoor landing balustrades.
The beech handrail is supplied unfinished and untreated – apply a protective finish (stair varnish, hardwax oil or lacquer) before use to protect the wood from frequent handling and ambient moisture. This balustrade is for indoor use only. Floor-fixing screws are not included because the type required depends on the substrate.

Installation tips
Before installation, apply a protective finish to the beech handrail: two coats of stair varnish for maximum durability, or hardwax oil for a natural look. The handrail is the part most frequently touched – untreated wood stains quickly. Choose floor-fixing screws suited to your substrate (not included). Follow the supplied instructions carefully when attaching it to the CEYSSAT staircase.
Care and protection
Beech handrail: clean with soapy water and apply another coat of stair varnish every 5 to 7 years. Metal frame: dust regularly and occasionally wipe with a damp cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture – this product is designed for dry indoor spaces.
WoodUp tip
Before you buy: this balustrade is designed for the CEYSSAT staircase – check your model’s exact reference before ordering. The unfinished beech handrail must be treated before installation with oil, stair varnish or varnish, depending on the finish you want. Floor-fixing screws are not included. For beech, stair varnish offers the best resistance to wear from frequent handling. Apply two coats, allowing 24 hours of drying time between them.
Frequently asked questions
Is the OUMENET balustrade compatible with staircases other than CEYSSAT?
No. OUMENET is sized for the fixing points and dimensions of the CEYSSAT staircase. For other makes, see LUSETTE (Chemintrand/Chery, LUSETTE balustrade), ESPINAS (Baruchet/Chansert/Pelle, ESPINAS balustrade), TRIBALE (outdoor spiral staircases, TRIBALE balustrade) or ARLBERG Arlberg balustrade 100 cm. If none of these models is suitable, contact WoodUp with the exact make and model of your staircase.
Can I choose a wood other than beech for the handrail?
This model comes with a beech handrail as standard. The availability of other wood species depends on the options offered by WoodUp – contact customer service to check whether an oak or fir version is available for this model.
What finish do you recommend for the beech handrail of a heavily used staircase?
For a family staircase with heavy daily use, two to three coats of stair varnish are the most durable solution. They form a protective film resistant to scratches and knocks. Apply a light maintenance coat every 5 to 7 years. Hardwax oil gives a more natural finish but needs renewing every 1 to 2 years.
Does the OUMENET balustrade include a bracket for mounting it to the staircase stringer?
This balustrade is designed to be floor-mounted using a standard base plate. Mounting it to the side stringer of the CEYSSAT staircase may require stringer-specific mounting plates – check which accessories are available from WoodUp. The assembly instructions specify the mounting configurations compatible with this staircase.
Can the OUMENET balustrade be used as a sloping stair rail alongside the steps?
This model is designed as a horizontal landing balustrade for the landing opening of the CEYSSAT staircase. A different configuration is needed for a sloping balustrade that follows the angle of the stairs. Contact WoodUp with your staircase’s exact dimensions to find out whether a sloping version is available.
Does this balustrade arrive assembled or as a kit?
The OUMENET balustrade comes as a kit with assembly instructions. No specialist skills are needed for assembly – a drill, spirit level and screwdriver are all you need. Allow around an hour for the complete installation, depending on your CEYSSAT staircase configuration.
