Laminated beech cheese board — dimensions 35x23cm. Dual use: table presentation and storage shelf in WoodUp medium and large larder cabinets. Perfectly flat surface, free from knots and surface defects. Central ergonomic handle for easy handling. Laminated beech is more dimensionally stable than solid beech, taste-neutral and suitable for food contact. Can be lightly oiled with food-grade oil. Care: hand wash, dry immediately.

Laminated Beech Cheese Board 35x23cm – Presentation and Storage

This laminated beech board measures 35 x 23 cm and combines two uses: a presentation stand for serving cheeses at the table, and a storage shelf to integrate into WoodUp larder cabinets. Made from laminated beech, it benefits from greater dimensional stability than solid beech and a perfectly flat surface. Its ergonomic handle makes handling easy.

Beech is a taste-neutral wood with no inherent odour, commonly used for kitchen utensils and in food contact applications. It can be lightly oiled with a food-grade oil to enhance surface protection and make cleaning easier.

Key features

  • âś“ 35x23cm format — compatible with WoodUp medium and large larder cabinets
  • âś“ Laminated beech — stable, flat, free from knots and surface defects
  • âś“ Dual use — table presentation and larder shelf
  • âś“ Neutral wood — no transfer of taste or smell to cheeses
  • âś“ Ergonomic handle — easy to handle even when loaded
  • âś“ Can be oiled — enhanced protection and easier cleaning

Usage tips

For table presentation, arrange the cheeses from mildest to strongest in the direction of tasting — from fresh cheeses at the top left to blue-veined cheeses at the bottom right. Add a few dried fruits, walnuts or grapes to complement the board.

For integration into the larder cabinet, the board slides onto the shelf of the medium or large model. It isolates the cheeses from the raw wood of the larder cabinet and makes cleaning easier — simply remove the board and wipe it down.

Care

Wipe with a damp cloth after each use. For stains from fatty cheeses or rinds, rub with half a lemon, then rinse lightly and dry immediately. Do not immerse in water or put in the dishwasher. Apply a light coat of food-grade oil (linseed, sunflower) once or twice a year to keep the beech moisturised.

WoodUp tip

To regularly maintain your cheese board, prepare a simple mixture: 1 part coconut oil or food-grade linseed oil + 1 part melted beeswax. Apply warm to the wood, leave to penetrate for 10 minutes, wipe off the excess. This natural treatment lasts several months and gives the beech a very pleasant slightly satin finish.

Good to know before buying: laminated beech may darken slightly with use through contact with fatty cheeses — this is normal and has no effect on hygiene. Regular oiling limits this darkening.

Frequently asked questions

Is this board compatible with all WoodUp larder cabinets?

The 35x23cm board is sized to fit the medium (H35cm, W40xD30cm) and large (H50cm, W40xD30cm) models of the plywood larder cabinet. For the small H21cm model or the solid beech larder cabinet, please check the internal dimensions before ordering.

Can you cut directly on this board?

Laminated beech is hard enough to withstand occasional cutting (portions of cheese, bread). For intensive use as a chopping board, opt for a thick chopping board with a juice groove to preserve the surface of the cheese board.

Can this board be used with very runny cheeses?

For very runny cheeses (vacherin, very ripe brie, open camembert), it is best to keep them in their original box placed on the board. A cheese that runs directly onto the wood can become embedded in the pores of the beech and make cleaning difficult.

What oil should I use to maintain this board?

Any food-grade oil is suitable: linseed oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, virgin olive oil. Avoid industrial finishing oils (tung oil, Danish oil, lacquer) which are not suitable for food contact. Food-grade linseed oil is the most commonly recommended oil for wooden utensils.

Can this board be put in the dishwasher?

No. The intense heat and moisture of the dishwasher will warp and crack solid wood. Always clean by hand with a damp cloth and dry immediately.

Plywood Larder Kit – 3 Stackable Sizes, Grey Aluminium Grille

This plywood larder comes in 3 stackable sizes, all sharing the same base L40 x D30 cm, with a variable height depending on the model: small (H21 cm, 1 level), medium (H35 cm, 2 levels with dividing shelf) and large (H50 cm, 3 levels with two shelves). Its grey aluminium grille protects food from insects whilst ensuring continuous air circulation. The integrated wooden handle makes it easy to move. Supplied as a kit, it assembles quickly.

Lighter than the solid beech larder, it is particularly well suited to small spaces: a kitchen worktop, a pantry shelf, a wall-mounted larder. The 3 sizes are modular and stack together — you can start with the small model and add the medium or large according to your needs.

Which size to choose?

The small H21cm model is suitable for 2 to 3 cheeses or a few pieces of fruit placed on a single shelf — the perfect format for the table or worktop. The medium H35cm with 2 levels is the most versatile size: the bottom level for cheeses, the top level for fruit or small portions of charcuterie. The large H50cm with 3 levels is designed for cheese lovers who keep several varieties, or for users who wish to store an assortment of local produce.

Usage tips

Place in a cool spot, away from direct sunlight. For cheese, do not store strongly aromatic washed-rind cheeses alongside mild cheeses — aromas spread easily in a small enclosed volume. Air the shelves daily by briefly lifting the lid for a few minutes.

Maintenance

Wipe the plywood shelves with a lightly vinegared damp cloth — vinegar neutralises cheese odours effectively. The aluminium grille can be cleaned with soapy water. Allow to dry thoroughly before putting back into use to prevent mould on the plywood.

WoodUp Tip

For soft-rind cheeses, place a small wooden board or a sheet of cheese paper on the shelf before placing the cheese on it — this prevents the rind from sticking and makes cleaning easier. The WoodUp 35x23cm beech cheese board is precisely sized to fit the medium and large models.

Important before purchasing: plywood may warp slightly in very humid environments. This larder is designed for indoor use at room temperature — avoid very damp cellars or areas prone to condensation.

Frequently asked questions

Can a small model be stacked on a large one?

Yes — all 3 sizes share the same L40xD30cm base and are designed to stack. Order several models to gradually increase your storage capacity without changing furniture.

Is the 35x23cm beech cheese board included?

No. The beech cheese board is sold separately. It is sized to fit the medium (H35cm) and large (H50cm) models. For the small H21cm model, the board may slightly overhang — check compatibility before ordering.

Is this larder suitable for storing things other than cheese?

Yes — small fruits, small vegetables, charcuterie, local produce, fresh-cut aromatic herbs. Its compact format makes it versatile for any product requiring protection from insects and good air circulation at room temperature.

What is the difference from the solid beech larder?

The plywood larder is lighter, available in 3 modular stackable sizes, in a more compact format for worktops. The solid beech larder is heavier and more robust, with hinged doors, available in 4 sizes including large formats for cellars and pantries. Solid beech is generally more durable over time.

Is the kit difficult to assemble?

No. Assembly is carried out without any specific tools in 10 to 20 minutes depending on the model. Instructions are provided with the kit. Make sure all assembly points are properly tightened before first use.
